Are some people banned temporarily? I've noticed that some banned members have returned after 6 months or a year. Is this because they were counseled or appealed to have their accounts restored?

If you have been awarded an infraction, a moderator will send you a private message.

After you have been given at least one infraction, a new tab will appear on your profile. The tab is only visible to you. If you click on the tab, you can see a summary of all infractions awarded to you, for how many points and when those points expire.
