Default Not sure if I did the right thing

I PM'd a moderator about a long time member who used my thread to belittle me by saying I had issues with expectations, posting multiple replies reiterating my "issues," and calling me selfish and silly. I told this member I did not have these issues, but he/she continued to write that I did, even posting long book excerpts to reiterate this. He/She hyjacked the thread and made it about how I had issues, replying to nearly all the other posters, arguing I was the one with issues.

I was so upset that I was in tears and nearly wrote something uncharitable. Was I right to contact the moderator? Should I ask for the thread to be closed? I am afraid I won't be believed as he/she has been a member for 8 years, and I less than two. I've never seen a member berate another poster like this for so long.

Thanks.

Thumbs up Re: Not sure if I did the right thing

Hi there,

The mods are here for you. Hijacking of threads happen so often and it easy for some people to explain themselves to death and they must be right. I'm glad you did not say/type something uncharitable. The mods will go through the posts and do what they deem necessary. I think you did the right thing, but I'm a radical that way

Many blessings,
Meximo

You did alright, though you should have simply followed How To Report A Problem Postwhich gets the same results faster.

I pulled your thread for the mod to review, and I'm sure she'll get back with you when she's on again.

In the meantime, I suggest that you click on that offensive poster's name and on your profile, click control panel and then Edit Ignore List, which will give you
Ignore List
Add a Member to Your List...

To remove a user from your ignore list, un-check the box associated with their name and click the 'Save Changes' button.

To add a user to the list, enter their name into the empty text box and click 'Okay'.

which will make the person's posts invisible to you unless quoted, but even then I suggest you never respond to them again, and if something offensive shows up...just report it and the mod in question will do the rest.
God bless.

I went away from this forum for a while after joining. There were just too many responses from people who did not measure their words or just talked off the top of their heads. Since I really enjoy so much of what goes on here from the prayer requests to the politics, I decided I would come back. Over the past few days I have learned so many things that I hate the months that I was off, your posting is just another example of the kind and decent people who are the majority on this site. I also learned something new today, so thanks for bringing all of this to someone's attention.
