Default Is there any thread where mods say, why thread was closed?

Is there any thread where moderators post and give reasons, why a thread was closed?

Its because whenever a thread gets closed as a poster in that thread one muses what went against forum rules, simply to avoid future mistakes.

No. Virtually impossible to do in a forum of this size. Mods would be doing nothing else.

Sometimes I have seen a moderator give a brief explanation of why a thread was closed as a final post for the closed thread (discussion veering off topic, discussion has run its course, topic is currently banned, lack of charity, etc.)

But there isn't always an explanation.

To avoid future mistakes, the best bet would simply be to review the forum rules from time to time.

Discussions on atheists are temporarily banned. The mod's might also close a thread that has reached 1000 posts.

Also, if you respond to an old thread (I've seen it happen on threads dead for as much as 8 years!) we will close them w/o comment just because they are so far removed from current. It's better to open a new thread on any old topic and when searching forums for discussions, check the date of the first and last posts and if it's over, say, 4 months old...start a new one.

I also suggest that people actually read those old threads before opening the new one since the issue may be already answered.

Also a search of the Ask an Apologist forum can often supply what you're looking for from the staff apologists and docents. We get a lot of repeat topics just because no one checks out the stuff there.

God bless,

I do not think there is realy a need. I just know from other forums, even big ones, that there is some thread where every mod drops a post saying "thread X closed due to ...". So i was looking for a similar one here, but if there is none, there is none.
Has also the disadvantage of inviting dissatisfied user to start long discussions whether some decision was sound. (Though of course these discussions are also enlightening, especially in the respect to the dissenting users being horrified by the idea that the mods think they are allowed to kick anyone out without due process, just as if they owned the place or are employed by the owner. )

Regarding the thread that prompted me to look for reason, it probably got to close to 1000 posts - although of course it was yet still 84 post short of 1000.
