Wonderful visiting priest and Confession
I was in a touristy area over the holiday weekend, and located a church to go to Mass on Saturday evening. I arrived earlier than I thought, and saw the priest who was filling in for the normal pastor arrive along with a few other people.
I was in the area outside the main worship space, and the priest asked me if I was there for Confession as they apparently have some time before the 5pm Mass for it. I said I was not initially planning to go, nor did I know there was available time but its been a while (3 months) since I've last gone, so I'd like to take advantage. So I went into the Reconciliation Room with the priest and shut the door. My confession went well even though at one point when I was reading the act of Contrition (and thought I was not saying it right but the priest said the version from my missal was fine to say), and I then thanked the priest for the chance to confess after it was done as I am almost always nervous going into the confessional, but no longer that way once I have my penance and am absolved.
I did take the chance to pray my penance before Mass started and with a clean slate. Now I know I can go to this particular church if I have a dire need for Confession before Saturday evening Mass as most places offer Confession in the mornings and seldom offer it before Saturday evening Mass that best fits my work schedule.
