Seven
The Exorcist (HOW IN THE WORLD DID THEY LET THE SCENE WITH THE CRUCIFIX IN BACK IN 1972? Or in 2012, for that matter. Digusting)
Hostel (I've seen both I and II, if you haven't seen them...DON'T.)
Requiem for a Dream
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

I agree with Texas Chainsaw Massacre -- what disturbed even more was that I saw it @ Catholic college.

What really frightened me about this movie is that there are people stupid enough to believe this nonsense could happen.
It's not like Star Wars or something like that. This movie wanted to be taken seriously.

Did we see the same movie?
The opening credits clearly described Latin America & Mexico essentially becoming part of the East Bloc. There are a LOT of Latin Americans in the occupying forces--the Occupation Officer is Nicaraguan. Paratroopers establish "beach heads" and the heavy equipment and regular troops follow.
We see ONE small resistence group in one small area of the Occupation Zone. Powers Booth is an F-15 Pilot who gets shot down and has to join the kids. He obviously comes from a unconquered area that can still mmount conventionl forces (like an M-1 Abrams in one scene)
SPOILER ALERT
The kids dont "save us all"--like most resistence guerillas, the casualtties are high. The victory that is refered to at the end is obviously a collborattion of conventional and unconventional forces.
Besides, the movie is much like Heinlein's short story "Free Men" ( Expanded Universe) Its not really about a "plausible" scenario--its about any freedom fighters, anywhere at any time.

I just thought of one more...much more in the unsettling category, not a horror.
Anyone here see Gummo?
Very very strange.

Re: What's the Most Unsettling Movies you've ever seen?
Nothing could possibly top 'Salo' for most unsettling. I couldn't finish it, but I got enough in to wish that I never bothered watching the wretched thing. Passolini was trying to prove some sort of political point with that film, but overkill is a term that can't even cut it.

Re: What's the Most Unsettling Movies you've ever seen?
Not the most unsettling but unsettling nonetheless:
Suddenly Last Summer
Starring, Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Hepburn, Montgomery Clift.
Has to do with repressed memory, trauma, lobotomy and a very gruesome crime all wrapped up with a very overbearing mom and son relationship.

Braveheart due to the rubbish in it.
Matrix due to the coma it put me in.
Films with Sean Penn in them.

Re: What's the Most Unsettling Movies you've ever seen?
The following in no particular order:
- Panic Room
- Hostage
- One Hour Photo
- Halloween: Resurrection- the one with Busta Rhymes
- School for Scoundrals- with Billy Bob Thorton
- Dawn of the Dead (2004 version)- Haven't seen the whole thing , though wish I hadn't seen it at all.
- The Simpsons Movie - Some parts were funny, other parts were sickening and unessesary
- To Live (Chinese) - Had to watch some of it in Intercultural Communications class
- Scary Movie (that was the name of it)
- 1776 - Movie Based on the Musical

Re: What's the Most Unsettling Movies you've ever seen?
Oh, and a couple of other ones:
1) The first time I saw Titanic- the ending made me cry like a baby
2) Finding Neverland- The ending also made me cry.
3) Old School- Only parts of it. The TBS version was easier to watch, but still somewhat disgusting.
4) There's Something About Mary- First movie I saw with full frontal male nudity
5) End of Days
6) The first half hour of Pulp Fiction
7) The Passion of the Christ- Solely because of the scourging scene, but still loved it.
There are many others, but I don't want to dabble on for too long.
