Why not the contrary?
A late great priest friend of mine used to say. "I only get offended by whom I want !".
Meaning: it is not because someone wants to offend you that you go offended. If you do so, you are his slave.
You are offended because you want, when you want, the way you want. It dependes on you. You are free.
