Default Prayer required for local family, at risk from extradition and persecution.

Hello friends,

During a prayer service I attended today in a nearby church, a man began to distribute strips of paper, with the foillowing on them:

"URGENT PRAYER REQUIRED

Please pray for Georgeline and her four girls, who are members of this local parish. They have fled from Liberia to Ireland because of persecution and even death in their family. They are in court this Thursday 19th July to plead their case against extradition back to Africa.

May the Lord grand them His favour and grace to live in peace and love in our community."

Soon afterwards, he stood at the front of the congregation gave a little more detail. They are a lovely Catholic family, who had no choice but to flee Liberia, and have since escaped much hardship in their own homeland. Seeking a new start, they have settled here in Ireland and have been participating in the local parish with much enthusiasm. The entire family have joined the church choir in the same parish, and they need our help and support at this time.

I would ask that you please hold them in your thoughts and prayers, just as you read this, and perhaps keep them in your heart for a little while as you leave this page. Please ask that the Lord may give them reassurance and strength during this worrying, stressful time, and that any outcome in the next couple of weeks may allow the family to live in safety, enveloped in the love of the great community that has welcomed them so warmly, and in the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Thank you.

Liberia is a mostly Christian country, and the civil strife that wracked this family's homeland off and on for more than a decade has been over for some years now.

So, I'm puzzled as to who's persecuting them and why (if you're not able to give those details, let me know ).

St. Mary, please pray for those considering their case to make a just and impartial decision that will maximize the family's continued well-being and allow them to continue growing in the hospitable Catholic community of which they have become a part.

Friend,

I myself am not entirely sure of the situation. The prayer service in itself was in a different parish to mine, and I had been the last few times as it is a service that has stemmed from St James' in Medjugorje. I'm going there myself for a week at the end of August.

I understand as well Liberia is around 90% Christian, but what lead me to start this thread was the man who distributed the prayer intentions, and how moved he was by their situation, as well as some other information I can't disclose. The priest as well was in support, they both know the family personally. He also made the point that the family are fighting a "great injustice" in terms of their possible extradition, and some further personal details that would give more clarity, I'm not allowed to say, sorry for that. Please trust me, however, that this cause is good. If I had any hesitation over its credibility, I wouldn't have posted.

I'll be watching and reading local news to see if there's anything of more relevance. For now, I've just taken the initiative to ask anyone out there to spare a prayer, whatever the situation, and have faith that we can help them.

Thanks for asking.

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Amen.

I commend this family to the Blesed Virgin Mary. May she wrap her mantle of love and purity around them and keep them safe. Amen.

This family will be included in my daily Rosary.

Lenaghan--thanks for your helpful response; it puts me more at ease. I've said another prayer for the family. God bless.
