Default Bishops to Investigate Girl Scouts' Planned Parenthood Ties

Bishops to Investigate Girl Scouts' Planned Parenthood Ties

Washington, DC -- The nation's Catholic bishops are coordinating an investigation of the Girl Scouts, following years of mounting evidence showing the youth organization having ties to the nation's biggest abortion business, Planned Parenthood.

My parish has had nothing to do with GSUSA since former CEO Cloiniger came out and acknowledged their connection to PP back in 2004. They now sponsor a troop of American Heritage Girls.

I volunteer with the Boy Scouts, so I've paid attention to this issue. My guess is that GSUSA received sufficient flak for the Texas council's PP event that it's pulled in a bit.

With respect to Boy Scouts, it is interesting that the organization simply has no desire to "educate" its members on sexual matters. The BSA points out that it is important to live morally straight; that's it. The organization seems to believe matter of sex (body image?) is for parents to deal with. I'm fine with that entirely.

("Straight" being the term the organization used long before it became a euphemism for heterosexual; the BSA, of course, continues to receive flak for not endorsing homosexual leaders, viewing them as less than ideal role models.)

I think GSUSA is going to steer clear of PP, but have seen PP's viciousness in the Susan G. Komen thing.

Thank God.

I half hope that they find the connection, because I believe it's there.

I half hope they find no connection, because I love girl scout cookies.

I fully hope they find the truth, and we all come to accept it.

Amen.
