No - if fact it is a more loving thing to do than to let it keep falling off.
I know what you mean about feeling "weird". Last week I was mounting a small crucifix onto a wooden stand for a customer. In order to do it properly in the design I had to place a piece of wood over the crucifix and actually "hammer" it (softly) to get it to seat properly. Man did THAT feel weird...and that crucifix was not even blessed....
The thing to remember is that these objects - even a blessed object - are mere "things". Whatever respect we show them is directed not at them but at Him who they represent.
Sometimes we have to remind ourselves of this...
