I am not advocating these developments. I am suggesting a thought experiment. The specific suggestions arise from my thought experiment. I am an observer of the Church, not a participant. I guess I am like someone interested in the US Republican Party, and thinking about how it would develop if a split occurred between the neo-cons and more liberal people. I understand that Catholics will be suspicious of my motives, but I always try to explain them. Because I am an unbeliever, Catholics want me to convert, and I appreciate that they believe conversion would be in my best interests. The converse, however is not true. I do not want Catholics to become unbelievers. I am here only because I want to discuss belief. Sometimes I promote these discussions by expressing my own views, sometimes by challenging the views of others, and sometimes by asking believers to explain their thoughts, or to speculate on the future. such speculation is what I invited in this thread.

Why don't you do the same thought experiment with the Democratic Party?

Anyways, back on topic . . . .
