Bad omens?
I'm not one to believe in superstition, not even a lot of far-fetched Catholic things..But last night I saw something really, really odd..
I was driving home and I pulled up into my driveway, and I saw my dog running around with another dog. The other dog was really big, and black. I saw it's face so it definitely wasn't a shadow of my dog, either. I didn't give it much thought because I knew some people who lived up the road from us have a black dog. The thing that bothers me is that whilst I was still in the car, the dog disappeared. Literally into thin air. Like it turned to dust almost. My initial reaction was "holy ___ what was that??" And so I waited in the car for a second, shocked, and then I grabbed a flashlight and started looking around the yard, thinking maybe somehow I missed it running somewhere else in the yard. Nope. It was nowhere to be found. So I went inside, said a Saint Michael prayer, and sprinkled some holy water around my room..Later I remembered how a black ghost dog is an omen of death in a lot of cultures and it's kind of freaking me out...
Do you think it's possible for a death omen to exist? Or do you think this is something else?

Re: Bad omens?
Do your best to forget about it. Omens are superstition. By attempting to interpret an omen you are attempting to predict the future. Only God knows for certain what the future holds. As far as what you saw, who knows what it was.

Re: Bad omens?
What you saw could have been caused by anything - shadow contrasted with the light or even your mood at that particular moment.
I agree that you should do your best to forget this experience.
I am a convert also, although I am not a teen. Did they give you a booklet about Catholicism when you converted? If not, you should ask for one at a reputable Catholic bookstore. It will help guide your life in the right direction. Also, try to find a Catholic Bible class so you can share your experiences with others of the Catholic faith. That's what I did.

So a black dog, like your neighbor's black dog, seemed to disappear, at night, and you're wondering if this was a supernatural omen?
I think it's an omen that puppies are on their way. Black ones, probably.

Yeah, the priest that Baptized me gave me a couple of books. But there aren't any Catholic Bible classes or anything like that where I live(My parish is the only one in my town, which is really small and also in the Bible belt)

Re: Bad omens?
Well I've walked under ladders, been crossed by black cats and broken many a mirror. Wait a minute... I've never had good luck. There might be something to all this!
Sprinkle your dog and yard with holy water as well for good measure and call it done. No worries. God bless.
