I do that in all 365 days of the year.
It's so hard to find what to give up on lent...the only way I see is spend the day with only water.

Maybe your penance could be doing something rather than actually giving up something. you could pray the 15 prayers of S:ta Birgitta. maybe the focus is on what to give up instead of what to do.

Sweets is a good one...That's what I typically do. Maybe give up something fun, like posting on CAF!

I know what I'm gonna do!
This whole lent, I'm gonna eat ONLY bolied potatoes and water! and let's not forget the LIQUID yeast, raw...two tablespoons in one sip.
...for breakfast I'm gonna eat what I always eat : Tapioca bread with carrots.

My grandma says "Yeah mhm, I want to see that "

You'll see, I can do it.

It's great to see your enthusiasm, E_7, but please be careful. I would talk to your confessor before undertaking this kind of penance. Doing a less impressive penance that won't injure you would be better than taking on a heroic penance that will damage your health. Especially if you're in your teen/growing years, this may not be the best idea.

I'm not saying you definitely shouldn't do this penance--I would just strongly advise you to talk to someone more experienced before doing so.

good post and great advice

I think we must always look at the motivation for penance too - so we need to be sure we are not being prideful - because if we are it certainly defeats the purpose.

Thank you! My grandma also said something like "but you must add some other vegetable like beets, green beans or asparagus."

I am doing water fasts on Friday's too. I try to do one at least once a month. So once a week will be a challenge. I would recommend eating more raw foods Like veggies, Fruits, Nuts, and seeds the day before to prepare your body. It makes for less headaches and cravings.
