Saying "God Damn" is cursing. Its commanding God to damn something to hell. Sure I don't think most people who get mad and say God damn are actually asking God to damn something to hell. However God and Hell are not words to be used lightly without consequence. You should invoke God's name only when you mean to talk to him. Its simply disrespectful.
These offenses go against taking the Lord's name in vain.
I believe saying what the hell and other such things are also wrong. Sure it isn't using God's name without reason. However its making light of a very serious thing which is Hell. Same goes for the use of the F word. Its taking light of an action that is very sacred.
Just using my own reasoning on this.
