Default Are online ouija boards and tarot cards dangerous?

I messed with both. The tarot cards seemed really accurate. The ouija board in the ither hand didn't move, even though I asked it many questions. Should I be worried?

It's all rubbish. Even if it's not dangerous (and it may be), there are much more productive ways to spend your time.

I must agree with the first comment - it's all rubbish. Even so, it's not something you should actively seek out, either.

Stay away from this stuff.

You say the cards were accurate so you will stay to listen to them more than your Faith and that is dangerous, that is how Satan gets you.

^^^THIS^^^^

Occult stuff is idolatry. Using these things goes against the first Commandment. Make sure you go to confession and confess this with a priest. The priest will be able to help you understand more about this subject matter if you need it.

Logically, since stuff like tarot cards and ouija boards can be interpreted in pretty much any way the "reader" desires, they can look "accurate." What they say is about as useful as listening to a weather report that says, "Tonight: Dark. Continued dark till morning, when there will be scattered light." Accurate, yes. Useful, no!

Some people take such claims as inspired, and that is where the problem lies, because that is when people put their trust in such nonsense, rather than in trusting in God and faith. And as has been pointed out, trusting in such things as ouija boards, tarot cards and other means of "prediction" is a failure to trust God, hence a violation of the First Commandment.

I have heard that using such things can open oneself to demonic influence; I don't know the accuracy of such claims, but the catechism of the Catholic Church very rationally summarizes the evils of superstitious or magical practices in paragraphs 2111-2117. You can go to the USCCB website and use their online catechism to look it up for yourself. Basically, the problem with these practices is attempting to exert influence and control over future events and even other people, and thus usurp the authority that belongs to God Himself. The catechism, however, describes it much more elegantly and eloquently than I've seen elsewhere.

It's much better to find more useful ways of spending your leisure time online. Maybe even studying that catechism?

Such means to predict the future or contact spirits are against the first commandment of God.
Any Catholic who used such means would be recommended seek absolution and advice in Confession.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_cs...m/p3s2c1a1.htm

Paragraph 2116 "All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future.48 Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone."

May God bless and protect you in all things temporal and spiritual.

I am not sure but I would definitely steer clear of them.

That is good moves. Personally I would have with my parent's permission talked to Adam Blai at Religious Demonology. His Bishop has examined and tested him giving him permission to participate in deliverance with priests. He surely would give you good advice. I believe that this will soon clear all up.

Don't worry,

Your profile doesn't state your religion. Are you Catholic? If yes, then go to Confession.

If you're Catholic, go to confession. If you're of another faith, you might want to talk with your minister or spiritual advisor. But before you even do that, if you're concerned about an evil presence, if you have physical tarot cards or ouija boards, throw them out. If you downloaded virtual tarot cards or ouija boards, dump them from your download file and secure empty the trash on your computer, remembering to do the same with any external drive or storage you might have, and don't forget to do the same thing with your smartphone if you have one.

Tell God you're sorry you messed around with these things, and learn from this experience, and don't go fooling around with them, or anything that smacks of the occult, again.

Here is a story which may be of interest to you.

"On the other hand my brother dreamt of satan many times and couldn't stop it. It started the day he meddled with a ouija board. "
