Using a 1956 Missal for Scripture and Prayer??
today at a garage sale i found a Daily Missal to my surprise. It turns out that the Missal is a Daily Missal from 1956 with the Imprimatur from Cardinal Spellman. It obviously has the EF, for daily Mass. I purchased it for 50 cents, and another marian prayerbook. I want to know, would i still be able to use it at a EF Mass or would the readings and calendar have changed? also, more importantly, can i use the Missal to read scripture (instead of the BIBLE,) and can i use the Missal to actually PRAY?? it has prayers at the back and its tradtional, but i mean, could i like pray and meditate on the actual prayers of the MASS? especially the Latin, its so beautiful. I would much prefer to get my scripture from the Missal than from a BIBLE (is this allowed??) i dont know why, but i prefer it. I want a new douay rheims, from Benedict Press, but thats another thing. So can i get some help on this question??
