Default "Year of Faith" October 2012- November 2013

Pope Benedict XVI has declared this coming October the beginning of the Year of Faith.
Here is the Popes apostolic letter http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/be...-fidei_en.html

Here is a video from rome reports on it.... http://www.romereports.com/palio/vat...lish-7118.html

Note with pastoral recommendations for the Year of Faith
http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/co...o-fede_en.html

Quote:
The beginning of the Year of Faith coincides with the anniversaries of two great events which have marked the life of the Church in our days: the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, called by Blessed Pope John XXIII (11 October 1962), and the twentieth of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, given to the Church by Blessed Pope John Paul II (11 October 1992).
In these links it speaks about our ever growing knowledge and deeper understanding of faith. I am thinking some BIG things are going to come about during this year in our growth in knowledge of Jesus Christ.

It was said in the rome reports video events will cover everything from Confirmation students to devoted Marians.

I am excited to see what this Year of Faith will hold!

Perhaps one of the biggest events will be the Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelization that will take place just as the Year of Faith gets started. Those Synods always end up producing pretty awesome Apostolic Exhortations. It is the brand new Pontifical Council on Promoting the New Evangelization that is running the Vatican's Year of Faith website. And the working document for the Synod has a whole chapter pertaining to faith. So there is definitely a connection the Vatican is highlighting between the two.

Also, since Pope Benedict has already written an encyclical on love and one on hope, I would be willing to wager that the year won't end without him releasing an encyclical on faith, too. That would be cool.
