Question Headcovering Advice, Anyone?

Hello to all!

I was just wondering . . . I've been covering my head at Mass for several years with my mantilla (which is why I decided to join this group after browsing a while), but I'm personally beginning to question whether I should cover more often outside of Mass.

However, I've been trying really hard to find something that's just right, especially since I have short hair. Also, I have more hair around the side of the ear than most women (I wouldn't say "sideburns", but it's around that area -- and yes, I'm female ). Thus, if I wanted to wear a hanging veil or kerchief, it wouldn't work too well as it might detract from "feminine appearance".

Are there any other options out there to cover my hair (my ears included)?

P.S. While I do respect people who wear hijab (), I'm not really fond of wearing it myself. (I just wanted to note that just in case somebody gave that to me as advice.) Also, I know how to knit and crochet, if there are any patterns I can try out.

Perhaps a square scarf folded in half to make a triangle and then pulled over the ears and tied in back at the nape of your neck? You would have endless choices of fabrics.

Or the same kind of square scarf folded in half but tied under the chin. Speaking from personal experience, if you want a non-slip option, this is a good one.

Dear ParvaDei, did you try out the scarves? I wondered if it worked for you. J.
