Default There seems to have been a massive increase in advertising messages

Just looking at the 'latest thread' section now, every single one of them is an advertising/spam message.

All of them I see are promptly reported and removed thanks to the hard work of the moderators however I just wanted to ask - is it the same people doing it again and again? It's such a huge 'attack' over the last few days it is a little alarming.

I just emailed staff and gave two names of posters who are clogging up newest threads with junk. Im not sure the proper way to report this stuff, but it is alarming and annoying to think someone is wasting so much time trying to detract from our beautiful website.

The proper way to report advertisements, particularly spam, is to click the red triangle which is in the upper right hand corner of the post. A message box will open up for your to briefly explain the problem. Then click on the button which says "Send Report."

Any moderator who is online will see your report and take action.

It happens in every forum, all over the internet. It's nothing personal.

Another way to cut down on them is making new members wait a few days before activating accounts. One forum I go to does that, and they have hardly any issues with spam ad posts on them since they make new sign ups wait a week at most. People can still lurk and read but spammers most likely will not do so.

That won't stop people. Making people make 10 posts before they can post their own thread is a more reasonable adjustment. I joined a forum that made me wait a few days before I could post and by the time they activated me I didn't want to join anyway as I'd found one within that time that wasn't so strict.

I'm aware of that. But there has been an increase.
