It's a tough and scary situation we are in.
Last night, however, he approached me about it and we a had a long and productive dicussion about it. He is tired and frustrated with the sitter searches that go on every few years and agrees that his life (all of our lives) will be made easier if I were home to run the house.
At this point, we are leaning more towards me staying home with the children (Glory to God!) and trying to make up some of my lost income at home. We crunched numbers and found that it is possible to live solely off of his income but it will be tight.
As for homeschooling, I still very much would love to go that route. However, my husband believes that we can afford our catholic school tuition for the older two children and I am trusting in him and in God's timing.
I will continue to pray for all those in this same sort of situatiuon and please continue to do the same for me.
Together as a couple, we are starting a Novena to St. Joseph today.
Wonderful news!

Hopefully, you will indeed find the education plan that works best for your family.

I can't help notice the irony of your situation: You're staying home with the children because your sitter is taking a job.

I know John! We will probably both be crying tomorrow as we venture out not knowing what He has in store for both of us.

Thanks be to God and well done you! It sounds like you handled it very diplomatically.

Please keep those of us wishing to HS in you prayers, and please keep us posted on developments!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.. I have been at home since I was 6 months pregnant and my dd is now 11, will be 12 in August. I have friends that have always stayed at home also and I have friends (with dual income) that say things like wish I could do that, you are so blessed, we can't afford it, etc... This as they are driving away from the dealership in their NEW car... The reason I can stay home and have for so many years, one word- sacrifice!!! We started homeschooling when my dd was starting 5th grade (2 years now) my biggest regret about that, not doing it sooner! Get your hubby more info, there are great Catholic Homeschools out there.
www.setonhome.org
www.chcweb.com
also for a Catholic Homeschool Conference
http://www.ihmconference.org/

I've only been doing this two years, there are probably some more seasoned HS that can tell you other places to look for info...
