Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
So what are your three favorite spiritual resouces - excluding the Bible and CCC.
1. That you take everywhere you go.
2. One that you will always refer to for spiritual advise.
3. The one book you will never be done reading.
Mine are:
1. My Daily Bread is with always with me since it is small and fits into every pocket.
2. Divine Intimacy - cannot go astray with the Carmelite spirituality.
3. The Evidential Power of Beauty by Thomas Dubay...I will never tire of reading this
book and will never in a 1,000,000 years be able to retain all that is has!

Re: Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
1. The Stations of the Cross. I have them memorized so they are always with me.
2. Grace Before Meals. I actually say this before just about anything, so that it really should just be called "Grace Before." It reminds me how to treat whatever is at hand, and it reconnects me with the presence of God.
3. Intro to Devout Life by St Francis de Sales. Practical, real world spiritual advice from the Doctor of Love.

Re: Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
I don't take it everywhere I go, but excluding Scripture and the New Catechism, I'd say the Liturgy of the Hours. I also, and I won't blame you for laughing, find spiritual consolation in my Chickens that I keep in a coop behind my house. I guess the third would be my Rosary, but I'll admit, I'm flaky with it, but it does go with me nigh everywhere.

Re: Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
My daily missal publication ( I use "Living with Christ")
A copy of "Hearts on Fire- Praying with the Jesuits"
The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius (I use a book called "Draw Me Into Your Friendship", by David Fleming, SJ)

Re: Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
The first book that comes to mind right now is The Imitation of Christ. I also like The Spiritual Combat, though I have more "history" with the former.

Re: Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
1. The Rosary is with me everywhere I go. I am getting better about praying it.
2. I am enjoying the In Conversation With God series immensely.
3. I will never be finished reading The Imitation of Christ. If I do finish, I will just start again, I think.

Re: Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
1. The Angelus or The Chaplet of Saint Michael
2. The Rule of Saint Benedict While I'm no longer discerning with a Benedictine community, I still find the life and Rule of Saint Benedict to be very inspiring and uplifting. It also really helped me to understand Scripture through a new light.
3. The Revelations of Saint Bridget I picked 'The Revelations' for this category partially because they are four tomes long and still not fully translated, and mostly because I could read the same chapter every day for a month and still pick something new an d inspiring from it; it is a truly wonderful piece.

Re: Three Favorite Spiritual Resources
1. The Bible
2. Catechism of the Catholic Church
I have a hard time coming up with #3. I read 3-4 books at a time and my bookcases are full, but those are the only two books I keep coming back to these days.

I agree other than I asked in my OP to not include the Bible and CCC - that is a given for many...what else would you say?

Sorry, I should have followed the advice I give my son and read the instructions!
I don't often read books twice. One book I've read over and over is "New Seeds of Contemplation" by Thomas Merton. I don't recommend it for everyone, but I found it very helpful in regards to contemplative prayer. One book I've recommended over and over is "When the Well Runs Dry: Prayer Beyond the Beginnings" by Fr. Thomas Greene, S.J., which does a very nice job of discussing the transition to contemplative prayer.
