How should a Christian react to rude behavior?
One of my "weaknesses" is that I simply cannot stand any kind of rude or condescending behavior. Although I control my outward behavior at such times, on the inside I get extremely angry and boil with vengeance. I observed this today, when a person at a service desk (whom you would usually expect to be polite, since it is his job) behaved with me that way. Although I did not react, I was filled with thoughts like, "I'll get even with you. I know your superior very well...".
I remember another episode. I was working and a person came and asked me if I could get something done (not something illegal, but against the "rules" nevertheless). I said that my supervisor had instructed me to not do that. I suggested some "right" alternatives to this person to get this job done. He replied, "If I had to do it that way, which I could have, I wouldn't have come to you... just want to let you know that there are people here who know how to get things done." Some folks who do the same job that I do, do that "rule-twisting" stuff for him. I obviously didn't like this condescending remark, so I added my own rejoinder rather sternly - "I'm not one of them." And having nothing to say, he left with a frown.
I want you to judge these two situations and tell me how a Christian should react in situation. Thanks. Please feel free to criticize me.

Smile.
That's the only thing you can do.
Not in a condescending way, but in way that you know that the person will eventually find out the truth for himself ... another of life's lessons.
And say a prayer for them that the lesson isn't too costly to them.

i agree 100%...if you don't retaliate in any way then alot of times that stops the other person in their tracks anyway..

Re: How should a Christian react to rude behavior?
Hi Wesley
It's not our place to judge you.
Maybe the simplest thing to do the next time you're in that situation is to ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?"
I can guess you already know the answer.
God bless you,
Clare
