It's probably going to be 2-3 generations before we have an understanding of Vatican II's doctrinal teachings that are both clear and coherent and also consistent with earlier teachings. Probably none of us will live to see/hear/understand it.
My attitude is not to worry about it. The bulk of the potential problem areas of Vatican II aren't things that intimately impact the life of the ordinary layman -- ecclesiology, ecumenism, etc. I'm content to the let the eggheads work out the implementation details.
