Talking Dogs, dead people get election docs from nonprofit

From the AP:
The voter registration form arrived in the mail last month with some key information already filled in: Rosie Charlston's name was complete, as was her Seattle address.

Problem is, Rosie was a black lab who died in 1998.

A group called the Voter Participation Center has touted the distribution of some 5 million registration forms in recent weeks, targeting Democratic-leaning voting blocs such as unmarried women, blacks, Latinos and young adults.

But residents and election administrators around the country also have reported a series of bizarre and questionable mailings addressed to animals, dead people, noncitizens and people already registered to vote.
Why not register the dog? Or your dead uncle Louie?

They have constitutional rights too!!!

In 1984 a grand jury told of voter fraud that had gone on in Brooklyn for 14 years without detection; voting with fictitious names. Thousands of fraudulent votes were cast in state and congressional elections

There have been reports of non citizens voting

The Colorado secretary of state recently testified before Congress that a check of the voter registration rolls indicated over 11,000 individuals who were non-citizens at the time they registered to vote, at least 5,000 of whom likely voted

New Mexico Secretary of State Dianna Duran, reported that a preliminary check of voter registration rolls had already found 37 noncitizens that had voted in New Mexico elections

A possible problem highlighted in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board found that it is possible for double voting for somebody who lives in two states

All I can do is shake my head in dismay when I read stories like this and then hear certain politicians and public figures ranting against requiring voters to show picture IDs.

The problem is that these organizations use wide databases. So do some credit grantors.

I once opened a piece of mail addressed to "Rusty -------," the name of my now departed border collie/labrador mix. The company was offering Rusty a $4000 line of credit with a 22 percent APR. Obviously, I threw the junk mail away. The database they accessed must have been the town clerk's office, through which I had Rusty licensed.

Maybe I should have had a talk with Rusty about his bad credit rating--LOL!

My dogs are registered to vote. Why shouldn't they be?

Joking, but it reminds me of the story about "Boss" Daley, and the young pole worker. The Boss, and the youngster, were registering voters, in the church cemetery. When the "Boss" sees the youngster skip over a group of tomb stones.

"Hey there, those men have as much right to vote as all the others."

It's nothing new.

Come on, those Democrats have to get votes somehow.
