So, it looks like the ol' Call to Action types are still scurrying about in the dark. Hopefully, some combination of the Holy Spirit and next-generation anti-psychotic drugs will bring them around.

In the meantime, we should remember that we cannot serve Jesus while rejecting his Church.

I have to agree with everyone else, the Huffington Post is NOT an unbiased newspaper or even online journal. I'm a college student and my professors never allow us to use anything from the Huffington Post because of it's bias. It's like using the National Enquirer as a source. And this is coming from extremely liberal professors!

Awesome.

Let's see, now.

1. The priestly sex scandal seems to go on and on, with new accusations regularly.

2. The Pope's butler releases a torrent of personal communications by the Vatican.

3. There seems to be more and more evidence of financial shananagans within the top leadership of the Church.

4. Plus various examples of power politics pitting one against another.

5. The Bishops have targeted the Obama Administration big time, provoking particular concern and anger among many life-long Catholic Democrats and various healthcare people.

6. Now the Girl Scouts of America seems to have become a target.

7. The Donald Trump of American Catholicism, Bill Donohue, is expressing his views very ludly on TV.

8. And, on top of all this, the blessed nuns seem to be under assault.

One had to wonder if certain leaders within the Church think we're in medieval Europe when the Church's word was law rather than here in the multi-religious USA.

I think it is hard to read this one extract and not see the tone as disrespectful in the extreme. Given the letter is full of passages of a similar kind I would say it is spiritual TNT.
When I read those ad hominem attacks the expression "brood of vipers" comes to mind. When I read this kind of threads I sadly realize that Leo XIII was quite right by being concerned with the heresy of Americanism.
