Default Summer Movies and God

Well for those of you who have not seen one of the biggest movies this summer Prometheus, here is a non spoiler quick run down, first it is a "prequel to the movie Alien"
second the premise is who created humanity.

Now if you are able to detach yourself from any agenda this movie might have it is pretty exciting and worth seeing at least once on the big screen.

( semi spoiler for the movie next sentence )

======================================== =========================

In one scene a character is hoping these aliens they are searching for might give an answer as why they " created us " and the person she is talking to then asks " well if they created us who created them ".

interestingly enough the character who is sure these aliens created humanity wears a cross.

======================================== =========================

What I found interesting in this movie is that the writters chose to insert taking the Lords' name for certain scenes that needed an explitive... here is a movie shoving in our face did God or Aliens create humanity and okay now we are going to the Lords' name in vain on top of it... * shrugs * take from that what you will i cant connect the dots on that yet.

Then we have Madagasgar 3 with a small scene in Rome and a quick bump into the Pope or from what I have read a stolen ring from what we are to infer is the Pope....

Now I have just watched the movie Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengance,

( another spoiler alert for next sentence )

======================================== =======================

and if any have watched it, there is a scene when the hero is wanting to get rid of his powers given to him by satan, so an the obvious logic , made sense to me in the movie, is confession and going to communion. and they played the scene out rather interestingly i thought. I dont know how blasphmous it might be considered but all things considered not the worst considering movies that have gone out of there way to insult our Lord and Christianity.

======================================== ========================

Then we have the Avengers and Captain America stating " I only believe in one God " in regards to learning of Thor .

I dont know what all this means but I find it interesting...

maybe someone here with better insight than me can add something to this.

I watched the movies you mentioned. Here are my takes:

Prometheus:
One of the writers of the script also wrote LOST. I think his name is Damien Lindelof. His scripts tend to weave origin of life, meaning of life and Christianity together, even though the end results have the effect of confusing the viewers.

Also, in one of the interview with the producer of the film, Ridley Scott, he mentioned that he has floated the idea that Jesus was one of the emissary sent by the Engineers but ended up being crucified. Rumour has it that this could be fitted into the plot for a sequel to Prometheus.

Overall, I didn't really enjoy the film that much. Too many plot holes. It raises more questions than answers. The questions raised are not really insightful food-for-thought neither. When I read Ridley's Jesus Hypothesis I seriously thought that he should go for catechism class.

But it is quite interesting that the only person survives the Prometheus ordeal is the one who has faith in the cross.

Madagascar 3:

I thought the King Julien scene was quite funny. I mean, he is the narcissistic King Julien. It is rarely seen him being portrayed as bowing down to any figure or kissing anyone.

The Avengers:

"I only believe in one God" is a great line.

Also, Snow White and the Huntsman:

In the beginning scene, Snow White says the Lord's Prayer while imprisoned in the dungeon.

In the first place Prometheus is not a prequel to Alien otherwise Ridley Scott who directed it is a liar. Are you saying he's a liar when he publicly stated it is not a prequel.

Second, apart from pornography, we may watch any movies we want. If you are weak in faith don't watch anything which might shake your faith.
However, Catholics would have to be pretty stupid to think its credible that Aliens created humanity!!
