Catholics help me reply to this and defend my faith ( Please)
I don't worship a church or men's traditions, I worship Jesus Christ. Jesus is my rock, salvation, hope, redeemer, mediator, savior, .... my everything. Jesus is all I need. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." -John 14:6.
This is what someone said to me on Facebook....
I know this statement is super silly
and i know Catholics don't worship a church or tradition we follow the church and tradition and worship Jesus
but what is a good reply to this!

Tell them it's a good thing they don't worship a church or men's traditions, because if they did they couldn't be Catholic.

Good answer.
If they truly worship Jesus, they would follow Him. Jesus said that on the Rock He would build His Church. Jesus said to be baptized and to eat His Body and Drink His Blood. If you are not following His word you are not following Him.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me.

Baby dedication is an Evangelical tradition.

Perhaps try this - carefully read what your Facebook friend is saying. It's it true? I think from a Catholic perspective it is true. Catholics don't worship a church. Catholics don't worship men's traditions. Jesus is the way...
So... to drive your Facebook friends crazy.... Say... " Great post! I agree 100%!! Come and celebrate Mass with me and you can see too."

yes to this post! It is a charitable reply and dismisses this silly, yet common, misunderstanding about the Catholic Church.

Mark 10:
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[d]”
20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
Matthew 7:21
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven

As already pointed out, the obvious answer to this is to agree for his statement reflects the same things that we believe.
I have noted a tendency among many people (myself included sometimes) to make assumptions about what is being said...we "read into" a statement something that isn't there on the written page. For instance the thing that you might infer from his statement above would be the addition of the words "Like Catholics do".
So that while he says "I don't worship a church or men's traditions", we see, "I don't worship a church or men's traditions Like Catholics Do"... Then we make the mistake of responding defensively on what we think they meant instead of on what they actually said. By resisting this urge - and responding directly only to what is written we avoid miscommunication and promote only truth.
Of course he may then come back with things more specific...but then you have more specific information (or misinformation) to respond to....
Peace
James

I have seen two friends recently post pictures of thier children's dedications and asked my husband (Protestant) what that was all about. He said it was like baptism without the baptism and he didn't know why they bothered doing it. I thought the same thing....hmm isn't that a tradition?
