Prayer for safe travel
This is a small request relative to many on here. I will be traveling to Boston, along with a considerable number of others, for a research conference. Please pray for safe travel for all of us.

Re: Prayer for safe travel
Praying for you.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

Lord God, I pray that You keep losh14 safe and protected during their travel to Boston. Guard them and guide them. May their research conference be a truly educational experience and may they have wonderful memories to treasure because of this experience. AMEN.

Re: Prayer for safe travel
Thanks all very kindly for your prayers. I had a rather providential meeting...
As I usually do on flights, I spend the time from the cabin door closing until we're safely in the air in prayer - partly because I truly detest flying but also because I have no experience that makes me want to rely upon the Lord more than flying, except marriage and fatherhood. On the connection from Dulles to Boston, the passenger next to me, who was writing something quite intently even before takeoff, turned his attention to me as I pulled out "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas a Kempis.
"That's one of my favorites." He said. He talked about a challenging statement in the text to the effect that all learning is vanity and it is foolish to study anything of the world. We began our conversation and it turns out that he's the president of the Faith and Reason Institute, Robert Royal, PhD. Following a wide-ranging discussion of family, HHS, the conferences we were both separately attending and our own devotions, he invited me to follow the daily column at frinstitute.org.
Anyway, this is an interesting column because it's from the perspective of Catholics in the Beltway, whereas my experience is in the "flyover" state of Missouri where we're soundly ignored by D.C. Just thought I'd offer.
The conference was excellent, many connections were made, my presentation was well-received, and I learned quite a bit. All good things for conferences to have.
