Default New Political Showdown in Egypt as Court Invalidates Parliament

Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court on Thursday ruled that the Islamist-led Parliament must be immediately dissolved, while also blessing the right of Hosni Mubarak’s last prime minister to run for president, escalating a battle for power between the remnants of the toppled order and rising Islamists.

Interesting. I saw that earlier. One has to wonder whether it really is a coup or whether the military really is trying to act in a constitutional fashion. If the former, there will be a LOT of trouble in Egypt for some time to come.

The road to responsible self-governance is littered with potholes and sometimes with boulders; nevertheless, it cannot be avoided forever.
If Christians had lived up to the Church's teaching about property and poverty there never would have been any occasion for the spurious communism of the Marixists and all the rest - whose communism starts out by denying other men the right to own property.

There is only one true doctrine about property rights, and that is taught by Catholic tradition. Those rights exist and cannot be denied, but they imply an obligation which, if it were put into practice without hypocrisy, self-deception and subterfuge, would mean that most Christians would be living with something like the communism of the first Apostles: "For neither was there any one needy among them..."
