Default Question about green scapular

If you place two different green scapulars in two different places for the same person do you need to say the daily prayer* twice? For example, my friend’s parents are, sadly, divorced. Because of the divorce he alternates sleeping between his parents houses. If I were to put two green scapulars in each of his bedrooms would I need to say the prayer for each scapular or just once per person?

P.S. Any conversion stories involving the green scapular would be welcome.

*Immaculate heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

My understanding is that you must pray for each PERSON. You must also pray it for YOURSELF. So say it once for yourself and once for your friend. I would like to add that you are so kind to be doing this for your friend. If only everyone had friends like you, what a different world this would be!

Here a couple of stories about the Green Scapular from our own CAF.

http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=620449
(From an atheist)
How did you come to embrace Catholicism?
Strangely enough, it was the Blessed Virgin Mary. That friend of mine had sneakily
snuck in a scapular under my mattress. I didn't know until about 1 year into my
conversion. I imagine that she had something to do with it. I think it was the
green scapular.

http://forums.catholic.com/showthrea...=544742&page=3

My father, a fallen-away Catholic, passed away several years ago. When he first became ill and was hospitalized, one of the Vincentian priest pinned a Green Scapular to his pillow. I know my mother was especially worried about his salvation, as he had not awakened following emergency surgery. He did awaken many days later, and that same Vincentian asked if he wished to receive the sacraments. He was on a ventilator, so he could not speak, but he could indicate "yes" or "no", so the priest simply asked if he was sorry for any and all sins he committed, then he was given Extreme Unction. This was 2 years to the day of my auto accident, August 3rd. He died 2 days later, on the Feast of Our Lady of the Snows on August 5th. There is a promise attached to the Green Scapular that Our Lady will obtain the conversion of those who have fallen away from the True Faith. I'm convinced she did so with my father, the day of his death was clearly Providential.

I prayed for my husband a lot as he had been away from the Church for many years. I put a blessed green scapular under the mattress and prayed for him daily, and other family and friends prayed for him also. After several years he finally came back to the Church, and died a very happy man two years after that.

Here is a story about a man who use his scapular at night to avoid bad dreams.

http://forums.catholic.com/showthrea...=690740&page=3

"...Dreams of demons holding me down while i slept and trying to strangle me. Horrid stuff."..."Also, i've never suffered from those terrifying dreams while i slept with me scapulars on. I have a green one and a blue/black St Michael one. They 're a bit grotty after never taking them off but i reckon its worth it."

Here is another about a bad experience with tarot cards and the devil.

http://www.saint-mike.org/qa/sw/view...asp?QID=1384Th

A young girl was very agitated and upset. It seems her mother had in her possession some tarot cards. The girl was given a green scapular and within a couple of minutes regained quiet and peace returned to her.

One of the benefits of the Green Scapular is that Mary will protect the person from the devil.

Here is one exorcist who gives his experience about the power of Mary over the devil.

http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/ne...is-experience/

"It is also possible to 'throw in things just to humiliate the demon,' such as invoking the presence of saints, guardian angels and – most feared of all – Our Lady. It is then that 'you can really see that there is a change in the behavior of the demon.'”

Here is another priest exorcist giving testimony of Mary.

http://www.regnumchristi.org/english...&ca=118&te=782

"At the end, the priest says to the demon, 'Go away! Disappear!' The demon usually answers, 'No, I don´t want to.' It rebels and revolts. Sometimes it says 'You have no power over me. You are nothing to me.' But after a while, its resistance weakens. This usually happens after the invocation of the Holy Mother, she´s very important for that. No demon ever dares to insult her during an exorcism. Never."

"Does he have more respect for Mary than for God himself? "

"Apparently. Otherwise no holds are barred, and everyone is insulted: the priests, everyone present, the bishops, the Pope, even Jesus Christ. But never the Virgin Mary. It´s an enigma."

You don't trash-talk a man's mama. Apparently it holds true for the Son of Man's mama.

I gave some couple a green scapular and told them to put it under their pillow case. They wanted a child and tried for several years without success. With Mary's help, within weeks the wife was with child.

Do you think this would help in regards to addiction?

It just seems to me that any addiction makes us a slave to something evil, and is a strong attachment
that leads us away from Jesus. Mary is always sympathetic to our weakness and will always help us to break the bonds of anything that is keeping us from her Son.

My own particular view is this. Mary would not give us her sacramental gifts if they were ineffective and if she didn't want to help us. She really loves us that much to help in anyway her sons/daughters are in need and are hurting. She made certain promises of help and she would not have made them if she didn't intend to keep them.

What person could help us more that the most powerful and loving saint in heaven?
What good mother would not do everything in her power to help her little one in need?

There are three sacramental gifts that Mary offers us; Brown scapular, Miraculous Medal, Green scapular.

In the Brown Scapular, the person is clothed(investiture) with it, and when worn you are attached in some fashion to the carmelite order, and share in their good works and prayers. On your part, there are degrees of prayer that you will do daily. How much prayer is more or less left up to the person.
There is good, better, and best and left up to your decision without being obligated thru sin.
Once invested always invested. It is a spiritual way of life and a great one. And the nice part is,
one can start small and gradually increase in this way of life.
This is a very good way to go because you have the support of not only Mary, but others as well.

The miraculous medal is blessed by a deacon, priest, and always worn. Mary made a simple promise, and this is what I like about it. She promised that --great-- and --abundant-- graces would be given to those that wear it. But she did require one thing -- trust -- that she would obtain these great and a boundant graces. I have worn this all my life and I can honestly say that I have been spoiled by her. My faith has been strong all my life. She has kept her word to me. I use this medal in all my trials, by holding it in my hand and at that point asking for the great grace she promised. I do not remember a time that this didn't work. She told St. Catherine Labourae that she wanted everyone to have one. That means not just all catholics but everyone. It is so simple but so effective.

The Green scapular is blessed by a decon, priest, and can be worn or carried on the person in the wallet, purse, pocket, etc. The scapular carries these promises:

1. Conversion of those who do not have the faith
2. Reconciliation to the Church for those who have lost/strayed from the faith
3. Assurance of a happy death
4. Strengthening of the faith for those already in the Church
5. Protection from Satan for those who wear or promote the scapular

This scapular is used frequently for the conversion of someone, and also for protection from Satan.
It is given to the person to be converted to the faith or to a catholic to revive their faith. If they will not take the scapular it may be put in their room, chair, bed, etc. Then the giver prays this simple prayer for them everyday; Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

But it is also used for oneself for protection from the devil and for an increase of faith.
I have one of these as well in my wallet.

In the bible story of Jesus being tempted in the desert, notice that it was the devil doing the tempting all three times. He uses other things, and our own weaknesses, to tempt us, that is, the world and the flesh. As St Peter said, our fight is against principalities and powers.

Your fight is mainly against the devil using your weakness against you. This is what Mary has promised to do for those using her gift of the Green Scapular, namely, protection from the devil.
Her graces also will take you where you need to go, and show you what you must do. For the devil is the father of lies as Jesus said. He will try to mislead you and confuse you and discourage you. On the journey with her, she will dispell all of that and show you how.

Be at peace.
