Welcome to the masquerade!
It's a masquerade, the way I see it! Democrat and Republican have little meaning to me, as they have always been a vital part of the masquerade. As Saint Paul states: In all things, God works for the good. Whatever happens politically, economically, or socially, it does not matter in that the just are headed toward Heaven. Things in this world are simply too phony to take seriously anymore. So get the mask out so as not to offend anyone, fill yourself with faith, hope and LOVE, and welcome to the masquerade!
(I'm moving the thread from the spirituality forum.)

Re: Welcome to the masquerade!
Masquerade!
Paper faces on parade.
Masquerade!
Hide your face, so the world will never find you!
Masquerade!
Every face a different shade.
Masquerade!
Look around -
there's another
mask behind you!
Flash of mauve.
Splash of puce.
Fool and king.
Ghoul and goose.
Green and black.
Queen and priest.
Trace of rouge.
Face of beast.
Faces.
Take your turn.
Take a ride.
On a merry - go - round
In an inhuman race.
Eye of gold.
Thigh of blue.
True is false.
Who is who?
Curl of lip.
Swirl of gown.
Ace of hearts.
Face of clown.
Faces.
Drink it in
Drink it up
'til you drown in the light.
In the sound.
Masquerade!
Grinning yellows,
spinning reds.
Masquerade!
Take your fill -
let the spectacle
astound you!
Masquerade!
Burning glances,
turning heads.
Masquerade!
Stop and stare
at the sea of smiles
around you!
Masquerade!
Seething shadows
breathing lies.
Masquerade!
You can fool
any friend who
ever knew you!
Masquerade!
Leering satyrs,
peering eyes.
Masquerade!
Run and hide -
but a face will
still pursue you

I believe that we don't have a Two Party system in the USA. What we have are the Democrats and the Assistant Democrats.
Democrats want to hurtle the USA toward more Socialism/Communism at 100 mph. Republicans want to go 20 mph.
Either which way, we are slouching toward Gomorrah in our political system.

I'm not sure whether I entirely agree. The major Parties appear to have different political, economic, and social philosophies. However, both are susceptible to lobbyists, big money, unwillingness to implement campaign and tax reform, deceptive political advertisements, inability to compromise, and an unhealthy lust for power. Maybe Democrats and Democrats Light.

Re: Welcome to the masquerade!
I'm interested in how well a masquerade accurately describes 'reality.'

Re: Welcome to the masquerade!
I read something about how there are about 500 politicians in congress and about 14,000 registered lobbyists in D.C. Sounds like we're being run by businesses and puppets to me...

Who cares what the philosophy of a political party is, if the philosophy is not enforced? Remember, it is against the law to jaywalk, but in most places one won't get a ticket if one does.
But the Democrats are masters at enforcing party discipline. Just DARE to be a pro-life democrat during the Obamacare debate. Pro-life principles crumbled.
Republican party, there is no such party discipline, so they pretty much are the little brother running after the big Democrat brother screaming "wait for me!!! let me catch up!!!"
