Finding Vol. 2 of the Confraternity Bible
Can anyone help me locate a copy in good condition of Vol. 2 of the Confraternity Bible? (It was published in 1969 by St. Anthony Guild Press of Paterson, NJ, and the full title is "The Holy Bible Translated from the Original Languages with Critical Use of All the Ancient Sources by Members of the Catholic Biblical Association of America Sponsored by the Episcopal Committee of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine [Volume Two] Samuel to Maccabees".)
I have several editions of Catholic Bibles published at various times in the 1950's through the 1960's, and they vary as to how much of the O.T. remains the Douay Translation and how much incorporate the "new" Confraternity Translation. As far as I can tell, the Volume Two [from Samuel to Maccabees] was published separately in 1969 and never made it into any of the published editions of the complete "Confraternity Bible".
I have tried finding this volume for sale on Amazon and eBay, but to no avail. I would be willing to purchase the complete four-volume set (separately published between 1941 and 1969) just to obtain Volume 2. Does anyone have a copy he or she would like to sell? Can anyone point me to other places online that might have a copy for sale or at least would let me post my interest in buying one?
Thank you!

You might try Library Thing.
http://www.librarything.com
I found the book on the site. Then you can either click on "Add to wishlist" or "Get this book." There are lists of bookstores, libraries and swap sites.
May the Holy Angels assist you in your search!

Re: Finding Vol. 2 of the Confraternity Bible
Dear Viola Incognita,
Thanks very much for your response and the link!
I went to "librarything" and joined and added "The Holy Bible Samuel to Maccabees (Volume 2)" to the "Your Books" tab in my account.
Since I didn't see where you can either click on "Add to wishlist" or "Get this book," I'm not sure what to do next. I did get a notification that I shared this book with one other Member and I did indeed find it on that person's list.
Would it be appropriate for me to attempt to contact him or her and ask if it's for sale?
Sincerely,
Bedelover

Re: Finding Vol. 2 of the Confraternity Bible
Dear Bedelover,
I'm glad to help -- but I might not have!
I knew about the site from my local library's reference librarian. I'm not sure about the site's etiquette.
Talking to my library's reference department again, they recommend the following sites for buying a book:
AbeBooks.com
Amazon
Antiquarian Booksellers Association
Barnes and Noble
Powell's
Maybe you could add the book to your wish list on those sites.
Keep looking. It is amazing what one can find at local booksales and tag sales. Pray to St. Anthony, finder of lost things (and lover of the Word of God).
Sincerely,
Viola Incognita

Re: Finding Vol. 2 of the Confraternity Bible
Dear Viola Incognita,
Thanks so much for all this information and for taking the trouble to inquire at your library -- it was very generous of you! If I'm successful in my search, I'll certainly post a note. Whether I'm successful or not, I'll remember your kindness.
Blessings to you,
Bedelover
