Question about Divorce on the Catholic Church
Is it true that if the wife cheats the husband with another man, or the husband cheats the wife with another woman. The betrayal gives the right to Divorce to the infidel husband/wife ? If not which situations is divorce possible on Catholic Church? Thanks

Cheating does not give grants to divorce. Otherwise everybody would be divorced.
Surprised?
Look: Jesus Christ said that if you sin in thought it is the same as sinning in reality.

Re: Question about Divorce on the Catholic Church
The Catholic Church does not recognize divorce under any circumstances.

The responses you got are correct.
However, a declaration of nullity is possible, and it is not a divorce. In a declaration of nullity one has to prove that a valid marriage did not take place from the beginning.

This is misleading. Infidelity is not grounds for a decree of nullity.

The Church requires a civil divorce before an application for annulment.

I certainly agree with you that infidelity is not grounds for divorce.
I had mentioned in my post that one desiring a declaration of nullity needs to prove that a marriage did not take place from the start.

The Church considers adultery as one of the ground where the wronged spouse may seek a separation.
Quote:
|
Canon 1152.1 It is earnestly recommended that a spouse, motivated by christian charity and solicitous for the good of the family, should not refuse to pardon an adulterous partner and should not sunder the conjugal life. Nevertheless, if that spouse has not either expressly or tacitly condoned the other's fault, he or she has the right to sever the common conjugal life, provided he or she has not consented to the adultery, nor been the cause of it, nor also committed adultery.
|
Civil divorce may be allowed if necessary to protect the innocent spouse or the children.
Quote:
2383 The separation of spouses while maintaining the marriage bond can be legitimate in certain cases provided for by canon law.177
If civil divorce remains the only possible way of ensuring certain legal rights, the care of the children, or the protection of inheritance, it can be tolerated and does not constitute a moral offense.
|
(Catechism)
Neither a separation nor a civil divorce end the Sacramental marriage.

In addition to committing adultery, a "spouse who occasions grave danger of soul or body to the other or to the children, or otherwise makes the common life unduly difficult, provides the other spouse with a reason to leave..." ( Code of Canon Law 1153 §1)
