Default TV Show Spams

I keep reporting these "threads" that are just links to TV shows or episodes online, but, recently I joined a forum where you could not post a link until you had a certain number of posts. It didn't make the link not a link, it just wouldn't allow the post to appear at all. All these posters have numbers under 10.

Can this work here? I don't think it's too onerous to not be able to post a link for your first ten posts.

I think this is an excellent idea. It should be possible to require a certain number of posts/a certain amount of days/months on the forum before allowing the posting of pics/links/new threads, etc.

They recently activated a feature to where new members can't post pics. I've seen the suggestion about new threads before. One of the moderators said that they won't do that b/c it would stop someone new in need of help from not being able to post. All we can do is keep reporting them.

But they could be kept from posting links. The spam always has links.

I know this is an older thread, but my question doesn't really require a new one, so I did a search and found this one to post in.

There are a number of new tv show spam postings right now. It looks like they are from the same poster, but someone using a few different screen names. I am curious as to why people join the forums just to post spam. I can't imagine it works out much for them. I personally can't imagine just clicking on a link and I would think most people would avoid that too. So, why do they do it? Why do they bother and waste their time so much? I don't get it. Am I missing something?

Yep, I reported them too.

Isn't it odd? I would think it would take time to join with different names just to post spam with no return on that time, so it really puzzles me.
