I'm working through this book, and I have to wholeheartedly agree. Brilliant! His was a great mind before he was made the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

I don't think too many of his detractors have ever read what he's written. They just know he opposes women's ordination or whatever goofy idea they support, so therefore he must be bad and wicked. I have a hard time believing his manner is really tank-like. He seems very thoughtful and patient -- his unswerving devotion to the truth of the gospel must seem harsh to those wishing to compromise it, I suppose.

I worry for the Church when God will call him home.

Be sure to listen to his exclusive EWTN interview with Raymond Arroyo last year. My favourite quote from this interview:

"The recommendations of the second Vatican Council were poorly implemented."

SO WAY sums it all up.

Greetings

I have heard and read many priests, deacons and lay folks say they are very happy he is too old to be Pope.

I have not seen very many who would like him as Pope.

That impresses me.

I must read more about him.

I totally agree with you!!!!!!!!!!! Plus, calling Cardinal Ratzinger a "Panzer" is very disrespectful!!!

Tanais already explained above why it is not disrepectful. Perhaps he should have used and American image. How about the Energizer bunny. (the Bunny cardinal?)

I like panzer better.

Theophilus,

A German nickname does not make him a NAZI.

He is a very good man and "Panzer- Kardinal" is a compliment to him!

A prisoner of Christ
