Thumbs up Exercise Support Group--week of 10/29/2006

Good glorious morning, all! Hope everyone is enjoying the day...and that extra hour of sleep we got! I did. I needed a rest--extremely busy week...think things will slow down a little with my son's football season ending this week.

I worked out yesterday, as I posted in last week's thread, but am heading to a crystal party this afternoon...and will work out after that. Here's to health--make it a great day!

Carpe diem....

I won't be working out today, afterall...I'm actually quite sore from yesterday's workout--ouch! Hopefully, tomorrow I will be able to do the elliptical. Have a nice evening, all.

Well, I started out this week with a 3 mile run this morning. My goal this week is the same as last week: 12 miles. I'm going to Kansas City on Tuesday, but this time I'm bringing a sweatshirt in case I have to run outside again.

Hey, Sharon, I'm glad you took the day off. It's good to do that from time to time. Pain is our body saying it's time to take a rest.

Hi Michael...nice seeing you. I never thought of putting together a 'milage goal' for the week...whatta great idea! Ok...my goal this week is 10.5 miles...on treadmill, and 8-10 miles for the bike...we shall see. Looking at it here...looks doable. LOL But, doing it will be another story. We can nothing without God, so God will be my Coach for these workouts, no doubt!!

Sharon, I find that setting goals keeps me more focused and committed. It's great to see you setting goals. Now keep us posted daily on how you are doing toward your goal. My goal last week was 12 miles, and I made it running only 5 days. So, this week I set the same goal. If all goes well, I'll bump it up a mile next week, although that may be tough. Next week I'll be attending a conference in San Francisco, and the conference schedule is pretty busy.

My goal is to keep away from the candy pumpkins!
Seriously, though, I hope to get 50 miles walking in this week....and THEN eat some pumpkins!

Kathy, I told you, send them to me. I will prtect you from them. That's what friends are for.

I ran 3 miles this morning. That's 6 so far this week, and it's only Monday. I'm half way to my goal for the week. Tomorrow I plan to run 2 miles before I head to the airport for my trip to Kansas City.

LOL--you both make me laugh. I did not work out today..made my kids a Halloween 'creepy crawly' cake...hee hee...and unfortunately, had a small sliver myself. I will be on the treadmill tomorrow though. I did manage to walk a little today...nothing to write home about, but I plan on a good run, with a few sprints tomorrow...God willing! Keep up the great work, all.

Sharon, do you need deliverance from that cake? I can send you my address, so you can send it here. It will never bother you again.

Well, 2 days in a row I walked 10+ miles. I am on my way to 50 miles for the week and a few of those dreaded candy pumkpins.
Sorry Michael, I have a grand daughter to help me with them!

As planned, I got up early today, and ran 2 miles, before my flight to Kansas City. So I'm up to 8 miles so far this week. If all goes according to plan, I'll be able to run two miles of the hotel treadmill tomorrow morning.

You could/should do a show titled...'exercising...one city at a time...' I can see it now...your name in lights...everyone tuned in...it would be a total hit, no? You could talk about hotels who have state of the art equipment...and how even if you're traveling, you should be working out!

I got in my 2 miles today...great workout. I did not work out on Halloween or last night...Halloween, I had an excuse...but can't recall why I didn't last night...oh well. But, I threw in some inclines...and did a small arm workout with free weights afterwards. It was really great--my muscles are still 'jumpy'....love that feeling...but tomorrow, I might be sore. Keep up the workouts everyone...just remember...the average person gains 3 to 6 pounds over the holidays...so let's keep working out so we can have that extra scoop of stuffing. Have a blessed evening, all.

And, don't forget the little people, Michael...when you take MY idea for YOUR tv show to Hollywood...hee hee

Did 10.4 miles walking yesterday. Just a wee bit short of my goal. Have to make it up today!

Well, I didn't get a chance to go running in Kansas City, much to the dismay of my show's producer (Thanks for the idea, Sharon). Sunday, I leave for San Francisco, so I'll try to film some workouts for the show while I'm there. Don't worry, Sharon, I'll never forget the little people. I might even mention you when I accept my Emmy Award.

I ran 2 miles this morning, bringing my total for the week to 10 miles. 2 more to go tomorrow. Next week, I'll probably set a lower goal. I'm not sure how much opportunity I'll have to run in San Francisco. I'm going for a conference, and the schedule is quite packed.
