What does the multi-quote button do?
I was hoping that the multi-quote button would keep all of the nested quotes in a message I want to respond to. But it doesn't seem to do anything at all.
So, 1. What is the multi-quote button supposed to do?
and, 2. How do I retain the nested quotes in a message to which I want to respond?

It does do something, but not by itself. The button itself is a toggle* by which you can select (and de-select) several articles. Then, when you finally hit a "real" quote-button, all of the messages you've selected are attributed in the message editor. Here is an example where I'd quoted 2 previous messages: Re: Holy Day of Obligation? All Saints Day???
(* Selecting it ought to change its appearance. Under the "CA Blue" style it changes from blue to orange)

I wish nested quotes were maintained by default too . Usually (when I really need such) I just do so by hand, which can be made easier by the multi-quote -- ie multi-quote the quoted message and the one you are responding to, and just move the one quote inside the other.

OH - okay, so you select the "multi-quote" button from all the messages (make them all turn orange) that you want to quote, and then all the orange ones show up in the message when you select one of the regular quote buttons.
NOW I get it - thanks!!
