Cool Re: Latin phrases for Christmas

Here are some more Christmas "phrases" in Latin:

Rudolphus cervus nasum
Rubicundum habebat
Quem si videre possis
Elucere referas.
Ludificare cervi
Deridentes solebant,
Neque sinebant eum
Comminus colludere.

Ecce! Dixit Nicholas
Pridie festum
"O Rudolphe nocte hac
Visne traham ducere?"
Quam tunc iucundus fuit
Cervis iubilantibus.
"Rudolphe," nunc dicebant.
"Notus eris posteris!"

Cool Re: Latin phrases for Christmas

Silens Nox, sancta nox,
Placida, lucida
Virginem et puerum
Dulcem atque tenerum
Somno opprime,
Somno opprime

Silens nox, sancta nox,
Angeli nitidi
"Alleluja" concinunt;
Nunc pastores metuunt;
Christus natus est
Christus natus est

Cool Re: Latin phrases for Christmas

O Bethlehem, in collibus
Quam tacite dormis
Et spectant alta sidera
De caeruleis, caelis

Sed in obscuris vicis
Tu hodie tenes
Aeternia luce fulgente
Annorum omnes spes!

Tinc, tinc, tonc, tinc, tinc, tonc,
Tintinnablua!
Quam iucundum vehere in raeda festiva!
Tinc, tinc, tonc, tinc, tinc, tonc,
Tintinnablua!
Quam iucundum vehere, Io Saturnalia!
Per nivem currimus
In raeda festiva
Per montes eximus
Ridens omnia
In equis sonora
In animis soles
In mundo omnia rident
Pro tintinnabulis! Euge!

That's a mouthful. Did you translate "Merry Christmas!" or "How do you say Merry Christmas"?

"I wish a Merry Christmas (lit. "Christ's Birthday") to you.

You could probably get by with just Hilarem Natalem Christi or Beatum ("Blessed, Happy") Natalem Christi.

Cool Re: Latin phrases for Christmas

Sanctus Wenceslaus rex,
Stephani ad festum,
agrum vidit nivibus
gelidis congestum.
Vidit pauperem sibi
ligna colligentem,
qui sub luna splendida
sensit se frigentem.

"Hic, o puer, siste hic,
dicens, si cognoris,
quis sit, ubi habitet
pauper iste foris?"
"Ere procul habitat,
subter illum montem,
silvae juxta limitem,
ad Agnetis fontem."

"Adfer carnem, vinum fer,
lignum adferamus,
ut nos illi pauperi
cenam praebeamus."
Rex et pueri prodibant
animo aequali,
vento flante acriter
tempore brumali.

"Ere, nox fit atrior;
ventus vi augetur;
plus non possum; nescio cur
valde cor terretur."
"Puer mi, vestigia tu
sequere libenter.
Hiems saeva laedet te
minus violenter."

Puer regem sequitur,
unde nix discessit;
fervor glaebis inerat,
ubi sanctus pressit.
Hoc scitote, divites,
Christum qui amatis,
vos beati eritis,
si quem vos beatis.

Hodie Christus natus est. Hodie salvator apparuit! Hodie in terra cannut angeli, laetantur archangeli - Hodie exsultant justi, dicentes:

Gloria in excelsis Deo! Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis, Amen. Alleluia!

Christ is born today. The Savior appears today. The angels sing today, the Archangels rejoice! The just rejoice today saying - Glory to God in the highest! And on Earth peace to men of good will! Amen! Alleluia!

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

O viri, este hilares et bono animo,
Salvator Christus est hoc tempore festo,
Ut nos errantes liveret summo periculo,
O rem unam laetissimam, Laetisssimam
O rem unam laetissimam!

De Caelo Pater misit, in terram angelum
Qui quosdam ad postores afferret nuntium!
In Bethleham natum esse ipsius Filium
O rem unam laetissimam, Laetisssimam
O rem unam laetissimam!
