2. I'll reveal the Answer after 10 or less posters posted answers (as long as it did not exceed twenty; If you are the 21st, try answering next question)
3. If no one got it right, I'll reveal the Answer after 8 answers.
Okay? Here we go!
What is the Famous Mountain in Japan called?

Re: Quiz about Asia
This one's a trick question.
Okay, Here's a clue.
This Mountain in question is a popular site of pilgrimage in the Edo Era since people believe the mountain was sacred. Women were once barred from entering it.
Now, this mountain is known by many names in Japanese.
Many of these names are obsolete by now in present day Japanese, So what I'm asking for is the Translation of a particular name of the mountain in Modern-Day Japanese AND One of the Old epithets for this Mountain (It's popularly used in the Western World as a name for this mount; but today it is no longer used in Japan except when encountered in old literature).
To clarify, The Modern name for this mount and the Old name virtually mean the same thing. But what I'm asking for is the meaning of that name in Japanese (choose only from one of the choices)

Re: Quiz about Asia
Two years passed this young thread was last posted on. All I can say is, 'whoa'.
The correct answer is: B. Mount Fuji. "Mount Fujiyama", despite its popularity in some Western circles, is actually incorrect -- this is a misreading of the Japanese term 富士山 ( Fujisan), meaning "Mount Fuji" due to some confusion between the onyomi and the kunyomi of 山 ( on'yomi: san, kun'yomi: yama).
Meanwhile, there's no such thing as a "Mount Kuronoyama", while Unzen-dake/Mount Unzen in Nagasaki Prefecture does not have the iconic status that Fuji has in Japan.
Mommyof4 got the correct answer! Congratulations!

C. Taiga,
it's a tempeturate region special only to that place in the world,
Arctic and Grassy at the same time, weird isn't it?
