Default Deterioration in middle and old age clubhouse

I guess this is a sub-form of the curmudgeons.
I don't know if it is my new glasses, or just effects of old age, I can't read any more. Maybe it is a forum problem and mods will fix it. I usually scan new threads for interesting topics but when I open the thread they are like nothing in the title.

I read "Peter Rocks say Protestants" and find out it is an argument about Peter as head of the Church

I read "Jews Converting" and find out we are discussing family members who are Jehovah's Witnesses

I read "Greens for life" and expect to hear about spirulina and barley grass, but get a political diatribe about the environment

I read Children Vacations and expect ideas on how to entertain children during the Christmas holidays, and find out it is about a 3rd grader who wants to be a priest.

if I buy a computer monitor with a larger screen can I get the forums in the large type edition?

How about you, am I the only one who is falling apart?

Hi PA!
Hopefully you won't have so much trouble reading my post since I routinely boost the size of my font one notch to make it easier to read.

One way that you can fix your problem is to click on the "View" button of your browser taskbar (Up top) and you should get a drop down list, one of which is "Text size".

Click on "Increase" and you should see an immediate change for teh better and if you need or want more or to adjust it up or down later, you can simply repeat the process.

I hope that works for you.
Pax tecum,
CM

A couple of years ago, I bought a larger flat monitor which helped for a while. In September when I went to renew my drivers license, I darned near failed the eye test, so off to the Idoc I went. I had cataract surgery on one eye ten days ago and the difference is so unbelievable that I'm actually looking forward to getting the other one done next Wednesday. Even with one eye done, I can read the puter screen without glasses and the sepia tone to everything is gone in the good eye. The initial test after surgery indicates that my unaided vision should improve to 20/25 or a little better when it's all done. As for the rest of me, that's a different story.

Can you post here if you haven't even reached middle age yet, but are still falling apart?

Mid-twenties guy here who has put his body through some serious beatings with football & martial arts. Of all the major joints in my body I have only 1 that I have never had a problem with - my right elbow. I've messed up both ankles, both knees, both hips, both shoulders, both wrists, my left elbow, and my neck. I've also pulled or torn nearly every muscle in both legs and some in my arms and core area. And that's just the generic stuff. My friends at work always joke that if I keep going at the rate I'm going then I'm going to end up in a wheelchair by age 40. There are definitely days it feels like I'm heading in that direction!

Maybe we should just start typing in larger print?

Maybe some posters need an introductin to writing couse 101, and one of the lectures is entitled "how to choose a title?"

I am 53 and except for the fact I need to be in easy reach of a bathroom, I feel pretty darn good. And hopefully my knees hold out for a good long while as they are my main mode of transportation.

Here's the webpage to where I work.
Magnifiers & More

Maybe puzzleannie can find something here we can help her (and anyone else) out with.

Besides, I would NOT be embarassed to have postes with larger print...at least anyting around font size 5 or 6. I'm surprrised I've lasted THIS long with the current font size. But I think we should enlarge our fonts just a bit.

Question, Is there a way to change the default typing font, and size? It would be easier than having to change everything , everytime you type.

Day 8 of the really bad knee crisis continues. Could not get a dr.'s appointment until tommorrow. Knee is still inflammed and the drive home this afternoon was torture since I drive a stick shift and the right foot handles the brake. Judging from where it hurts and from what I could look up on the net, I"ve torn cartilege.

We're waiting on a report, Leonard. What did the doc say about the knee?

Dr. took x rays and said nothing is torn but there is a tremendous amount of bruising in, around, and under the knee cap. So he gave me some new pain medication and prescribed a patch with lidocaine (?) on it - some kind of topical analgesic. Went to the pharmacy and my HMO wouldn't cover it - the price was $200 Needless to say I didn't get it.

The pain medicine seems to be working better than Motrin - at least the pain is down to a dull roar. I'm just thankful that nothing was broken or torn.

My eye drops for the cataract surgery were $224. They (2 kinds x 1 refill each) weren't on the "preferred" list, so the insurance didn't cut in until $65 per prescription, meaning I had to pay it all. I didn't have any choice, though, and had to suck it up. That's a big ouch coming right here at Christmas.
