Default What does Gird my loins mean?

I've read this in the Bible and have no idea what this means. When someone says to gird my loins what do they mean?

In biblical times when people wore long robes, when it became necessary for someone to perform some action which required freedom of movement, they would tie or belt the robe so that it would not encumber their legs. I guess "girding one's loins" means to get ready to do something strenuous. I think.

Basically it means get dressed. The word "gird" means "to encircle, as if with a girdle." Your loins are your hips. So, literally, it means to encircle your hips with clothing, like a girdle or loincloth.

The phrase means, in terms of contem[porary clothes, pull on your jock; your going into a struggle.
