Excuses, Excuses
What are some excuses you have heard from people on why they dont attend Mass or partake in sacraments etc? I'll start off with a few examples:
Why do I have to go to confession? I never killed anyone.
It doesn’t matter which church you go to, they’re all the same.
Do the Godparents have to be Catholic?
The church just says that to get more money, its not actually true.
I have kids so I cant make it to church.
Ok, lets hear'em

Re: Excuses, Excuses
I grew up hearing this one, so that is why it took me a long time to return home to the church:
Jesus knows what's in my heart. I don't need to go to some fancy building to do my worshipping.

Re: Excuses, Excuses
I just heard this one from our pastor this morning.
Our pastor got a phone call from a parishner asking if Mass was going to be cancelled due to extreme cold weather.
Are we closed?
Father's response was that in Minnesota we never cancelled Mass so here in Ohio I won't cancel it either.

Re: Excuses, Excuses
actually heard this question as I left the basilica shrine near us this afternoon, as someone asked an usher, will the 5:30 Mass be cancelled due to the Super Bowl? in soTex, mind you, and Dallas not even in it.
I have heard these all recently:
Sunday morning is the only time I have to clean my house
(or go grocery shopping, or visit my mother, or do my homework, or study for an exam)
I can worship God better by taking a walk on the shore or in the woods enjoying the natural world he created.
My parents go to Mass, they are hypocrites, therefore going to Mass is useless and hypocritical.
