Exercise Support Group--week Of 01/28
Hello, everyone. Welcome to a new week of motivation. Last week was tough for me. A good friend of ours died suddenly on Thursday. He was only 36, and left a wife and three children behind. Then on Saturday morning, of of my daughter's best friends died. She was only 20.
Looking forward to a better week. I ran 2 miles this morning on the treadmill. My son, who is 19, started on teh treadmill yesterday. He wants to get healthier now. YAYE.

Oh Michael, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I will keep you & your famliy in my prayers.
You are teaching your children about the impotance of fitness and health by your example. What an awesoem gift!
I plan to alternate spinning/cardio with total body weight workouts this week with one rest day. Oh, and some yoga/stretching added.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 01/28
Hi, Autumn;
How do you stay so motivated? I've really been struggling lately. Although today I was motivated. I'm down in San Diego for three days, so I got up early this morning and went running along the marina, about 2.3 miles. Then, I repeated that after work. So, about 4.6 miles today. I'm going to try to do that again tomorrow.
Anyone see Sharon around? Has our founder abandoned us?

Hi Michael,
Still doing my walking , but it's very difficult when it's in the 20's I manage about 20 minutes. On the whole I get 8 - 9 miles daily. Better than nothing I suppose.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 01/28
Hi Michael,
At this time, I am trying to lose weight. Seeing the weight dropping is a huge motivator for me now. I feel so much better when I eat a well-balanced diet and exercise and that keeps me motivated. I am really determined not to become a statistic. There will be no "I told you so" from those who believe I will succumb to an unhealthy lifestyle.
If I allow myself to return to old habits it is really difficult to get motivated. I am extremely disciplined at this time and hope I can maintain.
I have seen our fearless founder around, we should hunt her down and drag her back here.
Kathy, your impressive... especially the 20 minutes in the cold. Keep up the great work.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 01/28
Kathy, 8-9 miles a day, in that kind of weather, is awesome.
Autumn, I like your motivation. Thanks for sharing that.
I slept a little later than I planned today, but I still got up and went running. I made it 1.5 miles. However, later when I left for work, I found that a window in my car had been smashed, and my video camera was stolen. I'm just sick about it. So I didn't run tonight. My hotel agreed to let me park in front of their fron door overnight, because of the missing window. It's scheduled to be replaced tomorrow.
Please pray.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 01/28
Hi everyone! I missed this thread...I was embarrassed to make one...and my workouts have been more off, than on...since my foot has been hurting yet again...found out that I have plantar fascitis...anyone hear of this? It's really not that big of a deal...except, it could take 9 months to heal! It comes and goes...but the more I walk on it...the worse it feels a few hours later...to the point of making it very tough to walk. What it is, is a tightening of the tendon that connects your toes to your heel....yoga has been known to help this. I might start taking that up, because the stretching over time,is what ultimately heals it. I used my bike recently, though...and the elliptical helps because I'm not 'walking'...just pressing down...it's been a royal pain, pun intended!!!!
I can lift weights, too...that doesn't bother my foot really at all...and do ab work, etc....
anywho...you guys are still going strong! I'm sorry for the loss of your friends Michael...how horrible...so young! What did the 36 yr old man 'suddenly' die from? Was he in an accident?
My prayers are with you.
Please pray for me you guys, that my foot heals soon. I'll be relocating to Florida soon...June 1st is the official date...and I will need every bit of physical strength!
nice to see you everyone

Hi, Sharon. It's great to see you again. I'm still praying for you.
Yes, it's been a rough two weeks. Chris (The 36 year old), died from meningitis. He had been feeling sick for a week or so, went to work that Thursday morning, but came home becausing he was throwing up. He called his doctor to make an appointment, then laid down to take a nap, and never woke up.
BTW, I started a new thread here.
