Default Will the last Pope be named Pope Peter II?

According to the St. Malachy's Papal Prophecy, the last Pope will be named Pope Peter II.

This is what he said, "
Quote:
"In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations; when they are over, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible or fearsome Judge will judge his people. The End." -St. Malachy
In your opinion, do you think the last Pope will be name Pope Peter II?

If you were to research the prophesies of St. Malachy, you would find that they are believed to be forgeries, according to most scholars.

Not just that, but for 2,000 years no Pope has dared to take the name of Peter out of deep respect for our first Pope whose successor they are. I doubt any of them would take it up now.

To be honest, I don't believe in St. Malachy's prophecy. I am merely asking a question. You know that I am well verse in Catholic Apologetics.

I just happen to find the prophecies of his when I was doing a google search on St. Peter and the Popes, and getting some more reference for support of Peter.

It just so happen, I ran into St. Malachy's prophecy regarding the Pope Peter II.

I personally don't think a cardinal would name himself Peter II, or Pope Peter II.

Hi Mannyfit,

If that prediction were true, then we'd have a way of stopping the world from coming to an end : no pope would call himself Peter.

My thoughts exactly.

First, the prediction doesn't say "Peter II." It says "Peter the Roman," and doesn't specify a number. A pope taking the name of "Peter II" does not mean the world is coming to an end. When the real End Times arrive someone could look up at the current pope, whatever his name is, and say "he called himself Paul the 139th, but by his actions we think he would be more aptly named Peter "

Second, no Catholic pope would have the presumption to announce something that Jesus has said can not be known. We leave that to the Jehovah's Witnesses.

When was their last "end of the world" prediction? Back in the 70's? seems we're overdue for another

In the book the "Accidental Pope" the name the priest takes is Pope Peter II. It was an okay book as far as christian books go....
