Exercise Support Group--week Of 02/11
Good morning, folks. Let's start off the week with a commitment to honor God by caring for the Temple of the Holy Spirit. I'm going to set a goal of running 12 miles this week.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 02/11
I was recovering from my upper respiratory thingee last week and only completed 3 workouts. This weeks plan is to go back to 4 total body workouts, 2 days of spinning, and 5 days of flexibility (yoga or stretching).

Autumn, are you sure you can handle that much after being sick last week? How are you feeling now?
I ran two miles yesterday. I'm going to try for more today.

I went running this evening, and made it 3 miles. That's 5 for the week, so far, with 7 to go.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 02/11
Well, so far I have just over 18 miles in 2 days. A bit shorter than usual, but on track for 40 in 5 days. The weather is absolutely awful here......lots of ice and snow!

Hi, Kathy. You're doing amazingly well, considering the weather. How do you walk so much when the weather is like that? I admire you!
I got up early this morning and ran another 3 miles. That's 8 for the week, now. So just 4 more to go. I go home tonight, so I'll be back on the treadmill tomorrow.

Actually Michael, most of that walking is at work. I do about an hour or so total before work. Then when I am at work, I walk EVERYWHERE. I rarely use the elevator. I am in the medical profession (maternity tech) and walking at work is just part of the job. I do prefer walking out doors though. I am considering a treadmill for when the weather is non cooperative. Any suggestions??

Make sure you get one with at least a 3 HP motor. Any less, and the belt might skip as you step forward. It's very irritating. I travel a lot for work, so I got to try a lot of treadmills in different hotels before I bought one. And I found the ones with weaker motors to be the worst.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 02/11
I have just recently (2+ weeks) started keeping track of calories and exercising. So far I'm down 10 lbs. I've found a class at my gym - California Family Fitness - that I absolutely love. It's called x-bike. This guy created a stationary bike that works like a mountain bike. It's built like one, fully adjustable, has gear shifters, bar ends, the handlebars move, and you can change the resistance on the handlebars. When you show up for class the instructor basically takes you on a mountain bike ride. Very fun!! It's the reason I'm doing so well. Unfortunately I had to take this week off because I have a martial arts tournament on Saturday and I need to get ready for that this week.

Hi, Nick;
Welcome to the group! 10 pounds in 2 weeks is amazing. Good job. Do you have a goal for weight loss?

Thanks. I'm a bit concerned that I lost so much on the 2nd week (7 lbs). Makes me think that some of it might be water weight instead of fat. Then again, I'll take it any way I can get it.
I would be happy with 30 more lbs. Dr. says she thinks I would be really good if I could get 60 more lbs.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 02/11
60 ponds is a lot. Back in 2000, I joined Weight Watchers, and lost 60 pounds over 8 months. I've put some of that back on, and am now struggling to lose it again. It seems to get harder as I get older.
I managed to run 2 miles on the treadmill this morning, so that's 10 for the week, and 2 to go to meet my goal.

It is. My main goal is to drop the 30. We'll see from there.
Are you back doing Weight Watchers now?
You going to break that up 1 & 1 or go for all 2 in one day?

Re: Exercise Support Group--week Of 02/11
I haven't gone back to Weight Watchers, but the thought has crossed my mind. I'm a lifetime member, so I could easily get back in, but I would still have to pay for the meetings.
I plan to run my last 2 miles tomorrow. Saturday morning I have to get up early and go to church for Catholic Men's Fellowship.
