Default Sylvester Stallone a born-again Catholic?

http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=8763

The preceding intrigued me. I hope it's true -- Rocky and Rambo were both childhood heroes of mine, for better or for worse, but I was always a bit disappointed with Sly's apparent inability to stick with his spouses. It would be terrific if he's really returned to the Catholic faith.

Yep you heard right!

Here's another article from a Catholic website.

Apparently he was at my old parish a few years ago during the Easter Vigil (a friend or a family member being confirmed I think), at least according to the ushers. He was in late, sat in the back surrounded by people, and left early.

I hope he isn't receiving Holy Communion.

I would have thought. She grew up in the same neighborhood I did in New Orleans and all through her books are references to the faith she grew up with. She saved a Catholic chapel from being demolished as well as the Catholic orphanage and convent from which my great grandmother came. Our Lord works in mysterious ways.

I agree with you Sandy, if stallone is Catholic, it's only up to christ to decide if he's worthy or not. We don't need to speculate about his life and if he's worthy to recieve communion, that's christ's decision.

Unhappy Re: Sylvester Stallone a born-again Catholic?

So I went to catholic.org to read this article, and at the bottom was an advertisment/link to www.instantdivorces.com. Advertised "Texas Divorce $149/48 hrs"

It said "Ad's by Google", but I would think there would be some other way to support this site without allowing this type of link.

I'm going to e-mail them.

That's what I say. From what we've seen of him on TV (years ago), we don't really know what kind of life he was really leading. And what's to say that he hasn't gone to Confession and confessed all of his past sins along with his current ones. If he has gone to Confession then the Priest has given him absolution for his sins and he has been forgiven by Jesus. He could certainly receive Jesus in Communion if this is the case.

Does anyone know if he was ever married in a Catholic wedding? And if so is he currently married to someone else? This would be the only reason he would be prohibited from the Eucharist (unless they are living celebately).

You know, come to think of it, what business is it of ours to speculate. How about we assume he's a good guy unless we know for sure otherwise.

Other than that possibility I think he's a great guy and don't understand why anyone would want to withhold the Eucharist from him. I can't wait to see his new Rambo movie!

Anne Rice isn't very orthodox though. Her son is gay and she wants him to be able to get married.

So her son being gay does not make her "orthodox?" What does that have to do with her?

To marry a woman in the hopes he's really not gay? Or to marry a man so as to support his gay life-style? If it's the latter case, then she is not orthodox.

It's the latter. Pray for her continued conversion of heart.
