Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
Good morning, everyone. Welcome to the new week. It's time to set our goals for the week. Based on my schedule for this week, I think I can realistically run 12 miles this week, so that's my goal. I'm taking a break today, so I'll be back on the treadmill tomorrow.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
Well I finished up the week last, with slightly less than 45 miles. I hope to do as well this week, Good luck to all.
Kathy
Michael, on the subject of treadmills, can you recommend one?

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
Kathy,
I've had the opportunity, due to my travels fro work, to try out many treadmills, and have found that the best ones have the following features:
- Minimum 3 HP motor. Any less, and it skips when you step forward.
- Easily change the grade (slope) while in use.
- Various programs built in.
- A place to hold a water bottle, and music player.
That first one is the most important. The treadmill that we got is the ProForm Crosswalk Caliber Elite. We bought through HSN (Home Shopping Network) on TV. I think it was around $800. In addition to the features above, it also has ski poles, so I can work my arms while walking. And it comes with iFit. iFit allows you to buy iFit CDs with workout programs on them. The output of the CD player connects to the treadmill, and my headphones also connect to the treadmill. I can listen to music from the CD, but the CD also has contolling signals that run the treadmill. It's pretty cool.

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
I don't do too much cardio--in fact, that's the thing that's missing from my workout. I'm afraid that I might lose a lot of muscle mass, or else my gains won't be as much, if I do it. Anyone knows how to prevent or lessen that mass loss when doing cardio or aerobics?

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
Thanks for the info Michael. As for me and mine, I did slightly less than 9 miles today. I went to Adoration and cut my morning walk a bit short. I am needing many prayers.

I haven't a clue. I do cardio primarily to burn fat. I'm not trying to bulk up. I'm trying to flab down.

WHAT?!?! You chose Jesus over excercise? What were you thinking? LOL
Just kidding, of course, Kathy. That's the best excuse of all for cutting the walk short. I ran 2 miles this morning on the treadmill. I was at my company's office, so I used the treadmill there. It's a Landice L7, and a perfect example of a treadmill with not enough horse power. It skips slightly when I step forward. How annoying!

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
OK, I'm still on track to reach my goal of 12 miles this week. I ran 2 miles yesterday, and 2 more this morning. So that's 6 so far this week.
How's everyone else doing?

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
hey guys....nice 2 be back. my trip was awesome--busy, but great. can't wait to move....my mtg with mgmt went really well, and all in all--this is a great oppty!
while i was away....i walked about 2 miles, power walking in my inlaws' neighrborhood. we stayed in orlando the 1st night.
second night--we stayed in tampa...and i was able to swim at the hotel's pool---10 laps, and walked over a mile.
tuesday--walked 2 miles.
so--i kept up with it, although i broke my Lent 'vow,' and ate a piece of cake for dessert at the cheesecake factory. stay away from this place--it's lethally tempting!!!
nice 2 see everyone so busy here...keep up the great work...and hope everyone is doing well.

Hi, Sharon! Welcome back. We missed you. That was a shorter trip than I expected. So when do you move?

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
hi michael the move is scheduled for june 1st...my official start date with the florida office to be 6/15--which will give me time to situate our kids in schools, football, etc...
these trips are short now, but my husband and i plan on venturing back down in about 30 days, to put money down on a home...we are thinking of renting for the first year, as a)the housing market is in flux and b) to make sure we like the community...so, it's pretty exciting--and i'm looking forward to being in a warmer (more active?) climate. not that you can't be active up north...but, it seems that northerners go into a sort of coccoon, so to speak...i'm finally seeing some of my neighbors that i hadn't seen since the holidays! it's all good...i'm looking forward to it very much. i pray i can find a good catholic church, too...there seem to be mainly baptist churches in this area

Yesterday I decide that since it stays lighter longer, I would go for a walk after work. So I grabbed my walkman after I put I things away and off I went for 30 minutes. Felt great!

Re: Exercise Support Group--week of March 25th!
I woke up this morning with something pinched in my back. It's under the ribcage on the right side. I figured if I could run my 2 miles, then stretch, that might help. But it didn't. the good news is that I got my 2 mile run in.

Good for you workin through the pain.
I am going again for another massage in my shoulder area today - I get the massage for the both of us.
I am doing good also racking up the miles everyday this week so far. Consistency is what is gonna take off the lbs.
