Question Catholic Identity Quiz

My Catholic Identity Quiz

What rite are you? (ie. Roman, Byzantine, Greek). Roman rite.

How often do you attend Mass? Every Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation.

What is your favorite part of the Mass? All of it! Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucherist.

What is your favorite church hymn? There are so many that I fancy... "All are Welcome", "Proclaim the Message", and "Shepherd Me, O God" (Psalm 23) are just a few of my favorites.

Do you pray the rosary? Not as much as I'd like.

Who is your favorite saint? Padre Pio, Saint Maximilian Kolbe, and Saint Augustine.

Who is your confirmation saint? Isaiah. The name "Isaiah" is a Hebrew name (pronounced Yeshayahu) which means "Yah (the Lord) is salvation".

How long have you been Catholic? I am a revert to the Faith.

Do you believe in the Church's teaching on contraception? That artificial contraception is intrinsically and morally wrong? Yes!

Do you wish the Church would catch up with the times? If this means to become more worldly then NO! One of the things I respect most about the Church is that she does not waver on issues of Faith and Morals.

How important is it to you to marry someone of the same faith? I encourage it! I read a study a few years back that showed that the children of mixed faith parents, have a very high chance that the children will grow up to choose no faith.

Are you considering or have you taken vows to the priesthood or religious life? It had always been a consideration.

How strong is your belief in the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist? Total faith! I "recognize in this bread what hung on the cross, and in this chalice what flowed from His side..." - St. Augustine, Sermon 3,2; 410 A.D.

Why are you Catholic? Because I love the Lord! The Communion of Saints, Sacred Tradition, and the beauty of the Liturgy.

What are some of the signs of God's grace that you have seen in your life? My wife, my newborn baby girl, and in times of daily conversion. It is especially in these times that I see that I have a loving Father who is merciful.

Are you Pro-Life? I'm sure glad my mom was

For you, what is proper dress attire for a Sunday Mass? Daily Mass? For me, I usually wear a nice pair of jeans or khakis with a buttom-up shirt. Sometimes I happen to match the liturgical colors.

During communion, do you people watch...(be honest) Honestly I'm too busy thanking the Lord for all that he does in my life and praying for those who are unable to receive - that they may be united in spiritual communion. And for constant conversion in the hearts of all those who are receiving.

Pope JPII... "ought to be a saint already" or "he wasn't the true pope"? You mean he's not a canonized saint yet In due time people.

Pope Benedict XVI... "viva il papa" or "I was hoping for someone a little less conservative"? I have read many of Pope (B16) Benedict XVI's writings and think that he is the perfect successor to John Paul II.

Favorite prayer? Any true prayer of humility or of contrition.

Do you know your guardian angels name? If so, what is it? Heck yeah! We went to different schools together Kidding, but I do pray to him/her while driving in snow-storms or in times of temptation.

Favorite Papal encyclical? I haven't read many encyclicals, however I did read "Deus Caritas Est" (God is Love) about a month ago and enjoyed it.

What is your favorite part of the Mass? All of it

What is your favorite church hymn? Panis Angelicus, choir will sing it for 1st communion Masses at my request. but I also like Shine Jesus Shine

Who is your favorite saint? Anne, Teresa of Jesus, Benedict

Who is your confirmation saint? Joan

How long have you been Catholic? cradle

Do you believe in the Church's teaching on contraception? I believe all Catholic Church teaching because she teaches the Truth.

Do you wish the Church would catch up with the times? The Church is the only institution or intellectual force that is aware of and tuned into the signs of the times in our world today.

How important is it to you to marry someone of the same faith? Essential, if you cannot share the most important thing, what is the point of sharing lesser things?

Are you considering or have you taken vows to the priesthood or religious life? don't tempt me

How strong is your belief in the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist? Total.

Why are you Catholic? Because I love the Lord and obey his command for unity made the night before he died.

What are some of the signs of God's grace that you have seen in your life? Holy Spirit acting on his pawky sense of humor at every crisis in my life.

Are you Pro-Life? well I am not in favor of death.

For you, what is proper dress attire for a Sunday Mass? Daily Mass? I do wear liturgical colors often, esp. when I will be with the CCD kids. I have a wardrobe of T-shirt type dresses and jumpers, which are easy to work in but also suitable for church. Believe me, Annie in shorts is not a sight to see.

During communion, do you people watch...(be honest) No, unless I am on duty watching over CCD kids.

Pope JPII... "ought to be a saint already" or "he wasn't the true pope"? Since this is a Catholic quiz, of course he was a true pope, and I certainly expect him to be canonized. Second part of this question would disqualify the respondent from a "Catholic" quiz.

My Catholic Identity Quiz

What rite are you? (ie. Roman, Byzantine, Greek).Roman rite.

How often do you attend Mass? Every Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation. Others when I have an opportunity.

What is your favorite part of the Mass? the Eucharist

What is your favorite church hymn? Very many. Right now, I'm really getting into Pan De Vida and Ube Caritas

Do you pray the rosary? Only a few times spread way out. This is the discipline I am preparing to take up regularly.

Who is your favorite saint? St. Francis of Assisi

Who is your confirmation saint? Saint Francis of Assisi

How long have you been Catholic? Since April 15, 2006

Do you believe in the Church's teaching on contraception? yes I do

Do you wish the Church would catch up with the times? NO!!!!!!! This is the Church established by Jesus via Peter and the apostles. It shoud be as it was intended by them. I'd like to see us be MORE traditional, and more standardized in our liturgy as well. If we had a thing that was the equivalent of the Hassidic Jews, for Catholics, that's what I would be. I know there's the mass like that Mel Gibson goes to and stuff, and that's all well and good, but it's not approved by the Holy Father. I want to see us become a more traditional Church with the blessing and encouragement, if not the outright edict of the Holy Father. Ironically, I think it is "keeping up with the times" that has made Church attendance and involvement levels drop a bit in recent times. There are a large number of people who thirst for deep meaningful tradition in liturgy and practice.

How important is it to you to marry someone of the same faith?

I'm an adult convert. I was Buddhist and my wife was Atheist. We came into the Church together, and are both now married to Catholics. Hey....as long as that's where you end up. ;-) Seriously, I think young Catholics should seek other young Catholics when possible, but when it comes it comes. Not much you can do about it.

Are you considering or have you taken vows to the priesthood or religious life? I am called to the Deaconate. If I live long enough, I will be a Deacon.

How strong is your belief in the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist? It is at the center and core of my existence as a human being. It has changed my life in ways I will never be able to adequately explain or show enough gratitude for. A foretaste of heaven itself.

Why are you Catholic? Jesus Christ called me to his Church through an elaborate set of life circumstances. I wasn't knocked off a horse and struck blind, like Paul, but metaphorically, it wasn't far from that at all, when I look at the whole of it.

What are some of the signs of God's grace that you have seen in your life? I had given up on life. I was dead inside, and I am alive again. Personal demons had destroyed and conquered me, and Christ resurected me from the ashes of my life. He relieved my wife of problems so dark and torturous that I can't really discuss them. She is a new creation as well. There are no words. We ARE the lyrics of the song Amazing Grace.

Are you Pro-Life? In ALL respects. The whole CULTURE of life spoken of by John Paul II. No abortion. No artificial birth control. No death penalty. No offensive war. Yes to amnionic research. Yes to adult stem cell lines. No embryonic stem cells. No in vitro fertilzation. No cloning. No euthenasia. No RU 47. I don't even support the right to own a handgun or assault rifle. I feel it is a misinterpretation of the 2nd amendment, and even if it isn't, it's a blatant nose thumbing at Jesus Christ and his message of peace and love.

For you, what is proper dress attire for a Sunday Mass? Daily Mass? Tasteful and nice if you can afford it. Nothing ever gaudy that would capture the attention of others and deflect from the Mass. It isn't a fashion show.

During communion, do you people watch...(be honest) I TRY not to, and I often close my eyes and pray.

Pope JPII... "ought to be a saint already" or "he wasn't the true pope"? - Wasn't the true Pope??? I've never even HEARD that one. What the heck is that supposed to mean??? - He should become a saint exactly when the time comes for him to become a Saint under Church law. His life seems to have merited it, for sure, but it's my understanding that many investigations must take place before they do this. Same could be said for Mother Theresa. I hope the Church is working towards that end in both cases.

Pope Benedict XVI... "viva il papa" or "I was hoping for someone a little less conservative"? VERY impressed so far. Bring it on Papa!!!

Favorite prayer? Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Do you know your guardian angels name? Yes If so, what is it? St. Gabriel.

Favorite Papal encyclical? Deus Caritas Est

What rite are you? Latin rite.
How often do you attend Mass? Every Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation and once or twice a week.
What is your favorite part of the Mass? All of it.
What is your favorite church hymn? Holy God We Praise Thy Name, Lord I am not Worthy, Hail Holy Queen, Gentle Woman.
Do you pray the rosary? Yes I try everyday but I don't make it all the time
Who is your favorite saint? Mary
Who is your confirmation saint? Mary
How long have you been Catholic? Since eleven days after I was born.
Do you wish the Church would catch up with the time? The Church is timeless. It is the world that needs to catch up with the Church.
How important is it to you to marry someone of the same faith?
There are many mixed marriages in my family. Where the woman was Catholic the husband is now, where the husband was Catholic he lost his faith. My father was a convert I am glad my mother married him. It is better if you marry a Catholic.
Are you considering or have you taken vows to the priesthood or religious life? I am married and I wouldn't consider it even if my husband died. My husband has considered being a Deacon.
How strong is your belief in the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist? I believe this great mystery even though I cannot comprehend such a magnificant miracle.
Why are you Catholic? God wanted me to be.
What are some of the signs of God's grace that you have seen in your life? This would take pages and some of the most grace has been when we lost two children. Recently my son had a horrible accident that he came out of unscathed. Daily I see God's hand in my life even when I fail Him.
Are you Pro-Life? YES
For you, what is proper dress attire for a Sunday Mass? Dress up cloths. No jeans, or T-shirts.
Daily Mass? Not quite as dressy but still not casual.
During communion, do you people watch...(be honest) We always sit in the front pew. I love watching each person receive. We have one lady who always pauses in front of the tabernacle to say a short prayer before she consumes the host. There is another couple who for years did not recieve and now the do. It is wonderful to see the reverence when they receive. O.K. I try not to watch but it is so inspiring.
Pope JPII... "ought to be a saint already" or "he wasn't the true pope"? he is a saint, just not formally recognized. I do not know the dispostion of his soul. Towards the end of his life I became very disallusioned with him. I hope he is in heaven.
Pope Benedict XVI... "viva il papa" or "I was hoping for someone a little less conservative"? Time will tell but I love this Pope
Favorite prayer? The Rosary
Do you know your guardian angels name? Yes If so, what is it? No. I do talk to him but his name has never been revealed to me. Probably faint if it was.
Favorite Papal encyclical? HUMANAE VITAE

...I left the Catholic Faith in my college years and attended a Non-Denominational Church that was more like a concert. And during the sermon we had little fill-in-the-blank sheets. It felt a lot like kindergarten class. We even got donuts and milk during the service. At this time of my life I was at a very materialistic mindset. I was all about stuff! And this Church had some of the biggest stuff: huge screens, cameras, super sound system, ect. They would bribe people with the chance to win a new car to come to this Church. After every three part series the following week would be all about tithing so about two Sundays out of each month was about tithing. I began to sense that this church wasn't much different from the rest of the world.I am now quite traditional, but not a traditionalist.

There are some radical traditionalists (kind of like Mel Gibson's Church) who believe that the popes after Vatican II were not truly popes or something like that.

Default Re: Catholic Identity Quiz

My Catholic Identity Quiz

[font=Times New Roman]What rite are you? (ie. Roman, Byzantine, Greek). Latin rite

How often do you attend Mass? Every day, including Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation

What is your favorite part of the Mass? The entire Holy Sacrifice of the Mass; I especially enjoy listening to my parochial vicar preach and when he celebrates the Liturgy of the Eucharist in Latin.

What is your favorite church hymn? Jesus Christ is Risen Today; At the Name of Jesus; Salve Regina; Regina Caeli; What Wondrous Love Is This; Donde Hay Caridad y Amor; Tu es Petrus; O Sacred Head Surrounded; I Received the Living God; Draw Us in the Spirit's Tether; Veni Creator Spiritus; Attende Domine; O Come O Come Emmanuel; Word of God to Earth Come Down; Pange Lingua; and many othrers..

Do you pray the rosary? Not as much as I should.

Who is your favorite saint? St. Peter; St. John Bosco; St. Mary Mazzarello; St. Dominic Savio; St. Mary Magdalene; Blessed Miguel Pro; St. James the Greater; St. Agnes and St. Augustine of Hippo

Who is your confirmation saint? St. Agnes

How long have you been Catholic? all of my life

Do you believe in the Church's teaching on contraception? Yes.

Do you wish the Church would catch up with the times? No. The Church is in the world, but, She is not of the world. While technological advances such as the internet help the Church spread her message, She should not be a slave to the trends, lest she fall prey to the dicatorship of relativism.

How important is it to you to marry someone of the same faith? It's the first priority for me.

Are you considering or have you taken vows to the priesthood or religious life? No.

How strong is your belief in the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist? Strong. We must believe and take Jesus at His word when He says, through the priest, "This is My Body; this is My Blood."

Why are you Catholic? I love the Church because she is Christ's Bride. She is the One True Church founded by Jesus Christ on the rock of St. Peter. For me, there is no other.

What are some of the signs of God's grace that you have seen in your life? I was blessed with parents who had strong faith. I was especially blessed with a paternal grandmother who passed down her love of the Church to me. I am blessed to have as my dearest friend my parochial vicar who is a man of deep holiness.

Are you Pro-Life? Yes.

For you, what is proper dress attire for a Sunday Mass? Daily Mass? I usually match the liturgical seasons. I try to wear my Sunday best, but, if I happen to be in jeans, they are neat and clean.

During communion, do you people watch...(be honest) Sometimes, I will, but, other times I just pray.

Pope JPII... "ought to be a saint already" or "he wasn't the true pope"? While I loved Pope John Paul II, I believe that perhaps the canonization process should have taken its normal course. If this is what the Lord wants, it will happen, but we should not rush.

Pope Benedict XVI... "viva il papa" or "I was hoping for someone a little less conservative"? I practically high-fived my parochial vicar when my dad sent me a text message that Joseph Ratzinger had been elected Pope. I nearly wanted to jump for joy during Mass. I could not contain my joy. Later on that evening, I celebrated with a friend of mine.

Favorite prayer? The Angelus, the Regina Caeli and Psalm 51

Do you know your guardian angels name? If so, what is it? No, but I know that he is with me.

Favorite Papal encyclical? Deus Caritas Est and Spe Salvi
