Default New Room Suggestion: Catholic Humor

I have one quick suggestion which I brought up individually to a moderator, but was subsequently pointed here by another member.

My suggestion would be the creation of a "Catholic Humor" board. Reason being, there seems to be a kind of conflict going on where some posters like to post humorous pictures, jokes, comments etc, which are often not taken in that particular vein by other posters (even though they are usually seen on the "meet and greet" board). I was just thinking that if there were a board dedicated to that (monitored for content of course) that it might help people realize it's OK to be Catholic and have a sense of humor (think, St Lawrence or St Francis), and at the same time have a place designated for such comments and humor without detracting from posters who are not inclined towards it.

Great idea Salvo!

I think it would be a good place for folks to go after being engaged in some of the more intense threads.

Laughter is still some of the best medicine out there.

Besides, Catholic humor can be very funny.

I support your idea.

As long as the humor is done with taste and not 'mocking' (dislike seeing anyone made fun of)...I like a good laugh as much as the next so I think it would be a good idea to just LAUGH! I could certainly use a little uplifting just now. Annunciata

There are some funny thing going on in the Meet and Greet forum sometimes. Caption contests, funny jokes and stuff. Will that do in the mean time?

I agree!
I especially like the Caption contests.
That is one of the reasons I thought a humor thread would be great!

Anne,

Well, that's kind of the sticky point. The B'neters brought the "Caption Contest" idea over from the other board, as it was always something that would typically bring people together in the spirit of humor. But on the meet and greet board, there were a lot of people who were offended by the content. And it was in no way shape or form "Bawdy". Just different people having different tastes and different opinions on what is proper humor for a Catholic board.

So, I was thinking if there were an actual board with a disclaimer as such, it might help. But meanwhile, we can continue to use the Meet and Greet boards for light-hearted fun as such.

Thanks for the response.

Annunciata, I'm so sorry to hear you could use a little uplifting just now. I hope everything turns out OK. And I agree that laughter can often times be the best medicine. Hey, why don't YOU go to the meet and greet board and create a thread asking people to give it there best attempt at humor and you can be the judge!!!

ROBERTA,

I had the same thought you had
