My folks mistakenly took the idea of not spoiling the child a bit too far. They were good intentioned, but to think of Jesus calling me "my daughter" practically makes me melt. I'm certainly not a Faustina, but the idea of him referring to me so affectionately, and his proclamation of mercy make me want to cling to him for dear life. Such kindness!

Wow! I've loved all the books you've chosen!

Unfortunately I have a Spanish copy of St Faustina's diary and it is not always easy for me to translate some parts of it into English in order to make a comment, so I think it is great that you post here parts of the text.

I would like to share with you this: my father got really sick on December 22 last year. He was 90 years old and had pneumonia and also Alzheimer's disease. He was in pain and never left his bed again from that date until he died on January 10, 07. And I always prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet by his bedside. I have a Rosary that is a ring. I wear it on my left hand. So as soon as I went to see him, I held his hand with my right hand and prayed silently the Divine Mercy Chaplet using the Rosary ring in my left. I kept on doing this several times a day, every day. And I did it while he was dying and he died a peaceful death, surrounded by his family. I believe it made a great difference for all of us, even for my non-believer brothers and sister.

Years ago I went into a Catholic library and found a photograph of the original painting of Our Lord of the Divine Mercy that is on the Convent in Polland. It has such a wonderful look! it radiates such mercy and love!! I bought two copies: one for me and the other for my mother. I also prayed for my father watching this wonderful image, that my parents kept outside their bedroom, and it filled me with great peace.

The only thing that bothers me a little, is whenever I read on St Faustina Diary things like: "it appeases the anger of God" (1565). I do not like to think that God is an angry God , as if to say that our Lord Jesus is more merciful than His Father.
I think that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are equally endlessly loving.

What do you think?

I agree with you that the three persons of the Trinity are "equally endlessly loving." But at the same time, as a human parent I love my daughter regardless of what she may do, there are times when I get very angry with her because of what she has done. Those are the times when it is better for her mother to deal with her, to "stand between" my daughter and my anger with her and what she has done. On other occasions the roles of father and mother might be reversed, that is with my wife being angry or upset and me being the one who stands between mother and daughter. In either situation, both I and my wife (father and mother) still love our daughter, no matter how upset (filled with wrath) or hurt we may be at what she has done.
As a purely personal observation I would suggest that since Jesus was born of a purely human mother and lived the same type of life (and died the same type of death) He as Son of Man as well as Son of God is a person we much more readily see in the role of protector against a Father's wrath. We know that Jesus has been in our place and understands our situation.

Did it not say in the book somewhere that this was a time of mercy followed by a time of justice? I remember reading that the Lord said to Faustina that our beloved John Paul 2 was preparing the world for the end times. mercy will end and justice will prevail.

I prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet at my aunt's bedside every day for three weeks while she was dying of cancer. I had not seen the above quote at the time, but praying the chaplet felt like the right thing to do for her.
How amazing! Did you tell her family?

I've often experienced the calming of a storm when I pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. We have many tall, spindly pine trees close to our house that sway violently in the wind, and not one of them has fallen down yet

Suddenly, I found myself in a strange cottage where an elderly man was dying amidst great torments. All about the bed was a multitude of demons and the family, who were crying. When I began to pray, the spirits of darkness fled, with hissing and threats directed at me. The soul became calm and, filled with trust, rested in the Lord. At the same moment, I found myself again in my own room. How this happens...I do not know. (1798)

it always astounds me to read about bilocation. I know Padre pio had it also...and of course St faustina. You would wonder if the Lord did not see anyone worthy to visit these souls in need and especially at death. I wonder if it is because of the demons and needed someone very holy to contend with them.

All this is making me want to read the diary again...I have already read it three times. Maybe more will be digested and help me to convert myself into a more christ-like life!

Hello my friend, it has been awhile...miss you!

Anyhow, i wondered if the role of being a nun was her "spousal" role. Yet even her role does not negate the fact that she, and every one of us are daughters and sons of Christ. Regardless of the official roles we play.

If God is in fact three persons, we to have many roles.

Ex: Mother = ...and the list goes on.

There were times when the dark seemed so dark to me, and hope felt so far away. Slowly over time, experience and hopefully wisdome, i learned to undestand accepting Gods Will as not a personal lac of experience in getting to the point of earning Gods grace.

I had no idea that it was there for me already. Shoshana has been there for me through a very painful seperation of dealing with my sons loss three years ago. I have learned to seek his arms, and i have been in His presence before as well. All of the hurt has been a trial to learn how to die to self. To realize there is a reason for suffering, and to learn to use it for good.

Then one day Shoshana enlightened me with a wonderful book on this, and i realized that there was so much more to this prayer than i had realized. Calm had a venue, my heart had wings from this constant feeling of the glass being half empty. Yes i have trials, but they are different now, they are with God, and His Mercy is new and strong to me.

To see this, definitely makes me wonder how long i could not see this along side of me all the time!

Patience he has for his wounded sheep!

Lana

I have not been praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet very long. I never realized how powerful a prayer it is until now.

Would someone say a Mercy Prayer for me...the depression has me a little down this week! I don't even have the strength to pray for myself.

Thanks!
