Default Exercise support group--week of 5/20!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD Morning, everyone! What a beautiful day for some excercise. But before we do that, let's set our goals for the week. Mine is to run 15 miles, in preparation for my 5K race on June 2nd.

Since I took yesterday off, I ran this morning, 3 miles, on my treadmill.

Default Re: Exercise support group--week of 5/20!

Happy Sunday all! Michael's in a good mood. And why not? It's Sunday!

My goals are both exercise and personal for the move:

1) would like to get in 14 miles of bike riding (2 days)
2) would like to get in 10 miles of eliptical
3) would like to be completely done with packing everything by end of week. I'm working, but my husband's off, so it might be possible.

I can't believe how all this packing, lifting of heavy boxes...bla bla...has made me so sore, as if I did squats. Is this what people in the old days did to stay in shape?

Have a good day, everyone...

Blessings,
sharon

Micheal

I like how your goals are always doable and that you seem to hit them every week.

Good luck on your 5K, I know you'll do just fine.

Sharon

Those are good goals also. I like how you mix it up. I can relate to other thing in my week almost seeming like I should be able to count them as working out. Having a baby that likes to be held while standing, mowing my lawn twice a week right now with how fast the grass grows this time of year. The automatic drive on my push mower went out last year and just pushing the thing through thick grass is tough as my mower is heavy.

No workout today but, I am shooting for 3 mile morning runs every other day this week and 60 min of tkd on the opposite days. I am hoping by next weekend to not have to take a day off anymore on a regular basisis. Unless ofcourse I go fishing early on a Sat LOL.

Sharon, it sounds like you're working muscles that aren't used to being worked. Perhaps you should add packing to your regular workout routine permanently.

Frank, I never thought about how much workout you can get if the automatic drive on the mower gows out. That must be really good for you. I just got a new mower yesterday. One of our local government agencies (AQMD: Air Quality Management District) is offering to take any working gas powered mower, plus $100, in exchange for a powerful, battery operated, electric mower. They call it the "Mow down air pollution" program. So I took advantage of it. I'll find out next weekend how well the new mower works.

Having the mower thats supposed to move itself and being almost 10 years old, it really is heavy. I break just as much of a sweat mowing as I do running, when its 75 degrees or hotter. When my old mower finally does die, I am going to look for a mower without the auto drive but, hopefully lighter due to it not having the feature in the first place. Although, my old mower has a briggs&straton motor and despite it being beat up, it always starts on the first pull. I bet it lasts a few more years LOL.

Oh and having a 1/3 acre lot adds to the mowing workload also. The yards on my block are huge compared to many of the homes in the area and the newer residential areas.

Hi everyone!
I am thinking about heading off later for some walking in the cemetary. Then as far as the week, I might try for another 60 miler walking week. Wish me luck.

Hi Frank..........I wish that were true. I need to lose about 40 lbs. to be "in great shape". But I keep trying.

Well, it seems like you have half the battle down. For me it's diet. Now I don't eat much bad food but, I know I eat way too much good food. I love peanut butter and frozen berrys of any kind by the truck load.

I would like to lose 20 pounds myself.

Keep at it, I bet your health level is pretty good despite the 40 pounds you want to lose.

I have been "blessed" with insulin resistance. If you are at all familiar with that, the "cure" is to lose weight, but having IR makes weight loss very difficult.

Well walking 60 miles a week seems like your doing just about all that is humanly possiable.

I hate the whole body index thing. I don't think its the only measure of health, espcially for folks with different situations.

I am not familiar with with your condition, or many health related problems, thanks to Lord.

It just sounds like if your walking that much, that you have a great desire & ability to take this thing on and your putting up one heck of a fight.

Keep up the good fight & never surrender.

rofl--no way! My husband acts like we're all in the army...or something...it's like calm down already, Sarg.

frank--yes--I have been trying to stay true to my isolated workouts, but i'm finding out that this packing thing is pretty taxing. I guess I totally underestimated how much would be involved in this move.

have a blessed day everyone...
Sharon

i agree about the bmi thing, but it's one way of measuring. we have to measure i think somehow...otherwise we'll come up with our own measurements.

All I know is I don't want to weigh what the scale says I weigh for the rest of my life.
